My guess is finally a reliance on a football crowd in a predominantly Muslim area caught up with them. Very good food at that place.

That is especially evident approaching the Bartons Arms from Aston railway station.
Last time I went that way, a few years ago, just yards from the pub I was approached by a man offering bargain packs of fresh meat from under his overcoat.
My most recent visit to the Bartons Arms was on a Friday last April and it was very quiet.
I didn’t get up that way while in Birmingham three weeks ago.
It’s all so very different from fifty years ago, my first visit being after reading about the pub in the Guardian’s ‘Boston on Beer’ column.

I think 'shaorma' is a Romanian rendering of the Arabic term for what we call a doner kebab, from the Turkish.
Possibly associated with the shop next-door?

I wonder if the quality of the food on the window will match the quality of food on the plate? Munch and Slurp did a pretty good job with this branding style.

To be fair Munch and Slurp do some decent food for a reasonable price despite the shite advertising outside.
Not sure whether the four Barker's eggs and chips to the right of the picture will go down well at the Showaddywaddyrama place though
