I believe the Highhouse may have a leaflet on it as well...

If you can find it, it might be worth looking for the episode of Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns on Stafford that was on a few years ago.
Anybody got a copy?

I've often come up into Stafford from the West Midlands looking for ghost related stuff....... The old tourist information office used to have a list of ghosts and hauntings on the general Staffordshire region, which was sent to them by the group that I belong to. This was going back about 20 years though...... Inmore recent times - come the big 'ghost boom' beginning a decade or so ago - Stafford released it's own leaflet on local hauntings. (And nicely done it was too, I have to admit!!)

Sadly, we don't get all that much information filtering down from Stafford, to be honest - which is a shame, as it's such a nice, historic area, all told!!

Best wishes to all - and I look forward to talking more with you all on this fascinating subject!

Regards,

Nick

I'm aware of the haunting associated with this place, but the site has become one of those commercial place over recent years (with regards to it's ghostlore), so we don't really associate with such places, unless directly asked to do so, etc.

I used to work in John Mottram Jewellers (now Bon Marche and some other clothes shop behind) there were several insidences there. I scoffed at people when I was first told but then had an incident where the ghost walked past me and a colleague. Spooky. Also I worked in the Chains pub (now Joxers) I opened up one night and heard banging upstairs in the office for quite some time as if someone was walking quite heavily backwards and forwards. Now the landlord at the time used to bang around all the time so I just presumed he was there. Later on I gave him a call but there was no answer so I went up to see and the flat was empty. oooooooooohhhhhhh, big goosebumps.

Depending on what you think ghosts might actually be Mrs M, perhaps the banging sound you heard in Joxers was indeed the landlord - but he just wasn't present at the time??? I do think a lot of so-called hauntings might well be recordings of past events that are re-played occasionally?

For some of our recent recordings made at investigations in Shrewsbury Library please see the following links:

I think every hospital has it's ghosts Sandonian...... I've heard accounts from most of the hospitals around this region. Again, depending on what you think ghosts are, it is easly to understand why such places would all have these types of stories associated with them, isn't it?

I would certainly agree with this. I am a nurse in an acute hospital and have worked 7 hospitals in the laast few years, all have ghost stories. One of my favourite ghost stories is about a specialist unit that was situated at the end of an admissions unit. This unit seemed to be especially affected by spooks and one particular spook used to wear a hat, come in and sit down where the visitors chairs were stored and that was all the staff knew about this ghost. One night the staff finnally saw him and they nudged each other saying 'dont look over there, but that ghost is here...' and this went on for a few minutes, both staff too scared to get up or do anything (thankfully the patients were all asleep and behaving. The episode finally ended when someone from the admissions ward came in and took the gentleman back to his bed lol the 'ghost' turned out to be a confused patient who wandered in unnoticed.

I work on a medical ward and you would think the place would be thick with the "departed", but I've never experienced anything. We all tell scary stories, especially at night. Its all a bit of fun. The most recent one is looking round and saying "did you say my name?", when no-one has. Well that's what the others are doing. Perhaps they are more "receptive" than me. One of the nurses swears the air get colder around her when someone has just "left the building". As you can see, I am a contented unbeliever.

So am I Florence....... well, perhaps not exactly 'contented' as such, but certainly 'devout'!

Re. Hospitals - you'd imagine that places full of suffering, death and dispair would most probably have some legends or weird happening associated with them. It's part of human nature to believe in some form of existence after death.... and where would be more apt for such reassurance than a place like a hospital?

Re. DjStaffs 'confused patient'.... I've found that - given a paranormally charge community of some description - it's easy for hysterics to take over and the most innocent / mundane happening will be taken as paranormal!!

Regards to all,

Nick
