Currently no trains betwixt Stafford and Manchester so there is much coach action around the town's railway station

Can someone please explain why this western access route seems to mostly consist of work on Foregate Street rather than the actual access route?

Or is the Foregate Street work something completely different? All I know is it's infuriating 90% of the day and makes me avoid going northbound to get to the shops up there. Seems to be a tailback down the A34 no matter what time of day.

It's to widen the junctions to make it actually possible for the WAR to feed into Foregate Street.

My experience has been that, against all expectations, traffic flows a hell of a lot better along that road during the works. Must be because there's only one set of lights there now rather than three, unsynchronized, of the buggers.

Isn't browning Street closed again? Signs on Sandon Road seem to indicate this.
Possibly just left the signs there?
This does seem to be the case - Browning Street seems fully open, but without the right turn at the end, obviously.

The Road Closed sign is still there on the verge by the POs' car park - leaving Road Closed signs up long after a road reopens is a bit of a local tradition, of course.
