Not impressed about this proposal
http://www.staffordshirenewsletter....ictoria-park/story-29819655-detail/story.html

It's on the front page of the Express & Star Stafford edition today but I can't seem to find it on their website so apologies for the link above to one of the worst sites I have ever used what with popups and mandatory questionnaires appearing just to read an article!

I think the owner is spot on - the new cafe will be sure to charge a lot more than the current one.

There is an online petition here too but there's only a few votes at the moment:

I'll probably get roasted for this, but I've read that article and I can't say I care. I'm looking forward to the prospect of a revamped park and my experience of that kiosk for the past 15 years is that you never can tell if it's going to be open or not.

I agree completely. It'd be good as a Morrison's.

The bloke that used to run it, many moons ago, worked at St.Georges. He used to buy the cheaper ice lollys and try n pass them off as Walls and Lyons Maid. He cut corners when doing the cleaning at work too.

I also wonder how many of the '1000' people who've signed so far are just under the impression the kiosk is being closed with no replacement.

I don't remember what it looks like, but is it Victorian? Of architectural importance to the look of the park? I never go to town park really, it's got nothing to draw me there, but I like the little Victorian things like the bandstand.

No. Red brick, looks very 70s if I recall correctly

We have got 2.5 million pounds to rejuvenate the park.
We have got 40 grand to rejuvenate the town centre.

Aah, different budgets, I'm told.

That about sums it up.

The kiosk building is ugly and detracts from the park, as such I won't be sad to see it go. I think the new café will be a success.

I hope the existing kiosk owners can be relocated in a new building / room as part of the proposed new café.

It is a rubbish article and the chap who runs it has not a clue.

I go their for my lunch virtually every warm day in summer and there are plenty of people there mainly office types who exactly the same. None of them which includes me bug anything from the kiosk, not that is ever seems open.

it sells simply crisps, some lollies and soft. Ok for single mum kids and the working class who seem to be the only visitors to the park.

I hate this narrow mindedness and the kiosk chap completely misses the point. The proposals for the park are to expand on its custom and visitors but extending its events and educational facilities, which alone brings more visitors.

I for would love a park cafe to look over the river in summer and I know a fair that would. The park is an extension to the town which is seeing an increase in numbers. The park needs a refurb to keep up not become run down and same ol.

I wonder how many of the new visitors to the town walking through the park to the station I see every with primark ans H&M purchases would stop off??

Ans how much dearer will this new cafe be, anymore so than starbuck and costa that always seem full.
