Thank you Chris. Despite reading ( skimming) the Newsletter last week Cannot recall seeing these events covered. I am not a MAMIL but do enjoy cycling and will definitely be a spectator this weekend. It's almost as if this event was aimed at the enthusiast, Lycra-clad brigade rather than the general public?

Just like Friday nights used to be - slightly blurry women.

Chaps, warming up.

The chaps were even more blurry - it was later, they were a bit faster and it was a bit darker.

For the second time in my life, I saw a lady spit in the street, but this one had a fair excuse, I think.

I also saw Stoofer's Wounded Knee.

All in all, it was an excellent evening. Top marks to all involved. Some businesses must have been a bit inconvenienced - e.g., the Swan car park was totally blockaded, as were the Mill Bank take-aways. There was some extra footfall - so, maybe it all balanced out in the end..?

Public order was ensured by this very nice Special Constable.

He says he's been about for nine years, but I've not seen him before.

It was a missed oppourtunity to do something in the Market Square, hog roast (with veggie option for Henrycat), wine tasting, farmers market, live music etc!

Enjoying a drop of red.

That's exactly what we thought when walking round. In fact the only place for food with a youngster in tow (and therefore needing to avoid the inebriated in pubs) was the chippy next to the Picture House.

You know the real shame is that the people who have purchased the concessions for Market Square left after lunch also if you look at the majority of firms who benefited from the event - Starbucks, Costa, McDonalds, National Pub Chains - non of these sponsored the event.

Again this event was sponsored by local business -Stafford Town Centre Partnership -130 businesses working in partnership with SBC to promote the town centre.

Live music was provided post event at The Post House & The Swan, but I know the organiser also asked food people to attend site with no joy, last year we had the benefit of The Pie & Ale House who created a great street scene area alongside the course - RIP.

Shame Le Creperie was closed, shame we couldn't have had a foodie market that night - maybe next year!!

But this was year four and the whole Staffordshire Cycling Festival Event is literally organised by one person, so all said a great amount has been achieved, we simply need to build upon the strengths and improve on a few weak areas.

If you have feedback I believe there is going to be a feedback section on the web site for festival.

Oh, don't get me wrong, we had a really good time.

As Heteroi said though, it was a missed opportunity for someone, who could have provided a usefule service and made quite a bit of money out of it I should think.

Same here we thought it was a missed opportunity.
The market square was empty....

Don't get me wrong I agree with the feedback, but I often have to listen to some business people moaning about a lack of trade - same one seemed to be missing on Friday night

I'd also just point out that we sponsored the ladies race - Dear Staffordshire Newsletter your web picture attached to the story didn't seem to show female riders -
