The Bell at Haughton have monthly steak nights that are usually pretty reliable, did have a dodgy one once but anyone's allowed an 'off' night in my book. Always fully booked.
Or here www.marikas-stuebchen.de for the more adventurous. Easier to Google it, you get the option to translate to English.

Enjoying a drop of red.
They do reasonable steaks at the Shire Horse, but by far and away the best is the Hollybush in Salt.

I recall a dispatch in 'From Our Own Correspondent' where the reporter asked a waitress in Wyoming what she would recommend for somebody that didn't eat red meat - "I recommend that you leave Wyoming" was the reply...

If you don’t mind venturing out of Stafford, the best steak I’ve had in a long long time was at the Granary Grill, which is on the Weston Park estate.

And if you looking for a steak to cook yourself I’d seriously recommend the fresh counter at waitrose (Litchfield or Newport) they’re often a bit hit and miss at Sainsburys/Tesco but we’ve never had a bad one from waitrose.

Booked in at The Swan for next Wednesday. Will report back.
Regards cooking my own, I've never been let down by the Sainsbugs 21 day hung jobbies.

Yes, look forward to your comments. I find the best to cook at home are from Morrison's. Had some from Tesco once under the pretence of being a rib eye, and had no idea of just where on the animal that piece of meat had come from, even the dog found it a challenge!!

I've heard swan steaks come with a price. They'd better be worth it!

Two for £25.00 including a bottle of house wine. So, even if they're shonky, it's no great loss.

Mrs. Dogg loves steak, I'm not so keen.

We had a "sinatra" pizza at Swan on friday and have to say it was excellent. There were decent steaky bits on it that I had to pass over but very, very impressed.

Also look forward to your review Trumpet. Could one of you possibly consider having a swordfish steak for the purpose of this experiment?
