That's quality Reminds me of the recording the songs off the top 40 for an hour and a half and then going to change tapes half way through and it being eaten.... many an hour spent winding tapes back in!Neon Jay said:

Any idea of the price difference, high-tech solution vs. pencil?Gramaisc said:Tandy used to flog these high-tech solutions...shoes said:That's quality Reminds me of the recording the songs off the top 40 for an hour and a half and then going to change tapes half way through and it being eaten.... many an hour spent winding tapes back in!Neon Jay said:
Good God, I've not seen one of those in ages! Personally a fan of the old Biro technique for rewinding tape - and I'm sure I snapped the odd one from over-zealous winding.Withnail said:Any idea of the price difference, high-tech solution vs. pencil?Gramaisc said:Tandy used to flog these high-tech solutions...shoes said:That's quality Reminds me of the recording the songs off the top 40 for an hour and a half and then going to change tapes half way through and it being eaten.... many an hour spent winding tapes back in!

Yeah in the early days of Hi-8 video and when the old man was out on the ground doing his surveillance/own video editing, he had a special machine for rewinding Hi-8 tapes. It did it a LOT quicker than the Hi-8 deck he used for recording/editing video IIRC.Neon Jay said:Good God, I've not seen one of those in ages! Shoes - I remember the mad scramble to change the tape over when you were recording your fave radio show and you heard the CLUNK as the first side finished...
Withnail - not sure, but more than a few pounds I imagine; great for using with personal walkman units as FF/RWD used to kill your batteries - that said, I'm certain they used to sell specific machines just for winding / rewinding tapes (rather than playing) did they not?
Ahhh, the memories...
Real men would rewind four cassettes at a time.shoes said:Yeah in the early days of Hi-8 video and when the old man was out on the ground doing his surveillance/own video editing, he had a special machine for rewinding Hi-8 tapes.
