ive just had a Dyson cordless handheld die.
Battery held charge for around two years , not overly used.

Replaced it with a Shark ( plug in ) but it can be broken down into 3 different types for usage.
    damn sight more powerful too.
collection bin is smaller , but worth it for the power.
been using ours for the last few months and can deffo recommend.

I've still got my corded Dyson - it's the convenience of a cordless that I'm after though the Dyson V11 is c£600 which I'm not sure I can justify spending.

The V10 is pretty sufficient as a vacuum replacement to be honest. We have one, plus a Neato Botvac D5 that handles downstairs.

Got it on Groupon for £100 off I think.

Another Shark owner here; a handheld cordless one for corners, stairs, windowsills, keyboards etc.

For the main floors (wood, carpet and tiled) I have a Bagotte robot vacuum. Press a button on the remote and away it goes; finds its own way home, to its docking/charging station, as well.

Got a cordless shark, charge lasts around 20-25 minutes. Not as good as the Miele drag around we had but more portable. That said the emptying of the bin isn't that great compared to a Gtech air-ram

I bought the Gtech AirRam Multi K9 System recently to replace a corded a Dyson and a handheld Dyson.
Been really pleased with them. The handheld Gtech is much better than the Dyson equivalent and I’ve been very happy with the performance of the upright. We paid £280 for both as Gtech had an extra 20% off offer over the Bank Holiday weekend.

E spares would probably be able to sort out a new battery at a reasonable price.

Or any other bits that may be needed for a complete refurb. An hour DIY'ing could be time well spent. Take it to bits, see what needs doing to bring it back to life. E-Spares can supply most bits and if you were going to bin it anyway you've lost nothing by having go and may save yourself a few bob. Plus the satisfaction of beating the built in knacker factor.

We’ve recently replaced our ancient Dyson with a Vax cordless. Ordered it Online direct from Vax for £245(?) & it came with free accessories, free next day delivery (or select your delivery day which we did). It’s been great so far ( no cordless are quite as powerful as a corded) & battery life is good enough for us. It comes with a detachable battery making charging easier & we were originally going to order a spare battery but at £70 we thought we’d see how it went but haven’t needed to yet. The battery is guaranteed for 3 years which was another factor in our decision. We considered a gtech, mother in law’s had 1 for a few years but we’re glad we chose the Vax.

i like how you can see marks where you have hoovered , i call them shark trails.
I was the same as you , i thought my dyson was good enough but the difference was outstanding.

You can get the GTech K9 bundle (upright plus handheld, with attachments) plus car accessory kit (more attachments) for £250 with a voucher at https://www.telegraph.co.uk/vouchercodes/gtech#id-9104941 The voucher may only last till the end of June. The K9 is meant to be better at dealing with pet hairs (geddit?).
