Tesco Bike Locks

Got to say tesco bikes locks do seem pretty good, i brought my new bike at halfords at the begining of the week and today locked it up outside a shop on the wolverhampton road, came to unlock it and my key snapped inside it.

Finished work after speaking to a locksmith who said it would be £35 to come out to see, i decided to buy a hacksaw from b&q for £13 after 1 and half hour i finally got through the dam thing i also broke a chisel and a screwdriver, I was going at it hammer and tongue so to speak, so even though the keys are brittle it takes well over an hour to saw through.

On the upside i got my bike back too, now to buy a combination lock at least no keys to snap

Worrying
but I once borrowed the wifes to drive to a football match in Preston , Half way there I needed fuel so stopped at a service station. I then realized I did not have the key to the fuel cap. I had to smash the cap with the tyre lever which took a long time I then re-fueled and bought a rubber replacement cap and no one questioned what I was doing

I had to saw through a lock when the key broke in it a couple of years ago. It was right on the high street and i did worry a bit about being questioned - as it was, nobody directly challenged me but someone obviously alerted a copper, who was happy with the half key in pocket/half key in lock that i showed her.

Only took me about five minutes - i have a better lock now. :)

Was thinking that to be honest, was kinda happy it took so much to get mine off cause the amount of time it took me to get it off a common criminal would of prob just give up

It has gone now - i have been watching it's slow dismemberment for several weeks.

It reminded me of that natural history show, watching an elephant carcass being consumed on the savannah, slowly disappearing piece by piece until nothing remained.

On Wednesday it had finally gone (the bike, not the elephant).

Same with a bike up on the Tech Park which now seems to just be forks and a frame...

No need to worry about Plod stopping, they couldn't give a flying one....

Was on the M6 on Wednesday night and got overtaken by a Fiesta so dirty the number plates were clearly not visible and one headlight wasn't working...

Plod 1 in brand new Audi A5 goes past me and him at about 80 and carries on....

Plod 2 goes past in brand new BMW 5-series at over 100mph and doesn't even blink at the bloke in front of me....

The lock I had to take so long to hacksaw was this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.211-1195.aspx
I had to saw the locking part as the out d shaped part was blunting the hacksaw, after that i spent 15 or so mins with a hammer, full on snapped a chisel and broke a screw driver all with an animal instinct, it became obvious that I was getting nowhere i commenced with the hacksaw which took a solid hour an half to get through the lock, If it was not for the keys been so dam flimsey i would highly recommend that lock hence the thread title but as above with the bikes been slowly dismantled, I truly did consider that options but then spotted i had it going through where the welds were meaning no dismantle operation.
