He's tried most of them in The Sun, but Captain Smiths is his favourite. (Think he just wasn't in the mood for going out last night)

I eventually got around to calling in today and both me and Mrs Mikinton were most impressed. It could have done without the young children, but otherwise we thought it was excellent, and ticked all the boxes, food, drink and decor. The service was good as well, though we did only have a half of lager each, so nothing too taxing. Anyway, I can see me calling in for a coffee, cwtching up in a corner with a good book, and having my lunch there as well.

Very pleasant couple of pints in here Friday night. At last, somewhere decent in Weeping Cross.

Just noticed that the old Virgin Trains first class lounge at Stoke station is now a Titanic outlet and they've called it Bod as well.

I'd assumed the one in Stafford was named after the road but Titanic seem to have created a Bod theme whatever that is.

Yes, the Stafford Bod was named after Bodmin Avenue but when it was opened they expressed the intention to open other Bod Cafe Bars elsewhere.

The one at the station in Stoke is great - I welcome more of them around the place.

Had a very convivial couple of hours with an old mate in here this afternoon and bumped into a couple of ex school mates I hadn't seen in over 35 years.

I love the Bod. Nearest decent boozer to me, so it's just as well it's good.

    Is this actually used?

Never seen more than two people in it around 430- 530pm everyday. Even the Friday before Christmas at 7.30pm there was nobody in even though the platforms were heaving.

Certainly a better option than the first class lounge. Pointless for stoke lol

It wasn't busy on Thursday but that was about 13.30ish.

Can the public access the pub from the road?

If not then only likely customers will be passengers who probably arrive at the station when their train is due.

It's also located in an area on the station that isn't frequented very much as that is the First Class end for London trains which won't help footfall. IMG_20190103_130426811.jpg

Yes, there public access on one side and access from platform 1 on the other with a divider in the middle, and judging by how often I've had to fight for a seat (on both sides) then yeah, I'd say its well used.

Are railway bars ever “heaving”? They’re usually for a quick pint whilst waiting for a delayed train, not for a night out.

Stoke is a small station, i’m pretty sure most people will spot it in its current location.
