I noticed an offer in the paper so went to the site http://www.sizzlingpubs.co.uk/thewildwoodstafford/

I was wondering what's it like and weather the offer is worth it?

It used to be quite good a few years ago and used to get quite full. We haven't been much recently, probably because we feel it's not so good .... though you do now have a bit more choice where you sit.

I used to quite enjoy their curry nights; not really for the purist, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I was regular visitor for evening meals up until Sept last year, Cant really put my finger on what changed but there was a noticable drop in quality.

Endless changes in landlord and then a high staff turnover. Think it's doing ok at the minute again. Can't really grumble at the food for what you pay :). Especially when the offers get emailed through.

Was a bit crap last year while they kept changing landlords and staff every couple of weeks and some of them thought they were too important to do any work .

There's a new couple taken over (since last July if I remember rightly)and things seem to have got much better the last few months. Food is a decent price, especially as they have lots of offers on. The new staff that have been on each time we have been lately seem a good bunch.

A nice friendly crowd in there and a good atmosphere.

Going to take a bit to pull back all those lost customers though. :/

Hubby was talking to this latest landlord - talking about planning to put entertainment on every other weekend on a Saturday night , starting about 9pm-ish.
At least they seem to be trying to pull it back.

Been again tonight. Pay for what you get really. Food is so variable. Today my ultimate combo - the fillet of chicken came with a noticeable chargrilled smell - upon investigation I found my chicken welded to the hot skillet...

Hopefully the new landlord will employ some more bar staff on a Friday evening and buy the elderly gentleman (aka the OCG - Optically Challenged Gollum) behind the bar a new pair of spectacles so that he doesn't upset the queuing punters.

We tried the 2 meals and drinks for £9.99 offer and the food was good value and reasonable.

I would recommend you ask for plates (as suggested by the member of bar staff who served the food) if you order a sizzling dish so that you can take the food off the skillet because it comes out as you have asked for it to be cooked and the skillets soon overcook the food if you've not careful.

They also gave us a free side salad when the better half asked about ordering one after we had ordered the main food and forgot to order the salad.

Bar service was a little slow but not overly so and drinks were reasonably priced.

Worth trying if you can't be bothered to cook for yourself.

The Royal Oak at Rising Brook does exactly the same menu and offers but haven't tried it.

They've got all sorts of good offers on at the moment.

Including free kids meals when purchasing an adults meal from 11th feb , certain drinks cheaper on Mondays and as Thehooperman says- 2 meals & 2 drinks for £9.99.

Always worth asking what offers are on before ordering,as they quite often have 'buy one meal & get another for £1' from a good selection of popular meals.

If you go to the 'Sizzling' website & sign up for the offers, emails are coming through each week with special deals & vouchers.

I always have the BBQ Smothered Chicken and sometimes it comes on a normal plate and other times on hot skillet. I do find it better on a plate as ,being a slow eater & the food continuing to heat up on the skillet, I'm left chiselling cheese & sauce off the skillet at the end.

Just been for a meal at the Wildwood and the £9.99 for 2 meals+2 drinks offer has now expired. In fact hadn't got any offers on at all when I asked, besides the free kids meals. :(

Busy in there this lunchtime and service was pleasant & quick. Meal were nice but I would have hated to have ordered the 'small' portion....... the 'regular' portion was small enough !!! :( Think they are making up for it being half-term and having to give lots of free kids meals away .

Does anybody know if the man who was taken away in an ambulance from here on Friday night is ok?

Wondered what was going on - saw the paramedic car and ambulance.

Hope the food isn't that dodgy!
