Gutted!! I have an order on the way too - praying I don't get clobbered for that much... :(

What a joke though - £13 handling fee to tell you to pay more tax. Not surprised you told them to shove it.

Funny thing is by telling them to shove it they will now ship the lot back to threadless! The lass on the phone said if I refuse shipment they just send it back, which costs parcelforce more money than delivering it to me. Very silly rules, especially as it states my parcel came from within the EU (Germany) and the rate of tax applied was over 40% BEFORE adding the £13 admin fee.

If I'd ordered 2 t-shirts they would have been tax free, making the last shirt over £30. I am of course assuming it is the threadless order, I'm not allowed to know unless I pay the fine. The tax seems completely wrong, almost as if they've applied it to USD as if they were GBP but even then its too high.

Just got my tees - charged me just over £18. £8 of that was "handling". Definitely my last threadless order I reckon, gutted.

Cheers for the pm. Safe to say that yes, they miscalculated mine on a large scale! The only way to prove it though is to pay them, which I won't do. Its a bit of a racket really, I didn't ask for parcel force to pay the import tax so I certainly shouldn't have to pay them for the privilege. At least if hmrc had contacted me I could argue the toss :(

that's exactly what happened to me when i ordered from thinkgeek a couple of years ago - i.e. they saw the total cost (which was in USD) and thought it was GBP, so converted it up to USD (basically doubling it), resulting in a £22 customs charge.. it took me several phone calls and emails to sort it, but in the end i got them to write off the whole cost (even the money i should i have paid), which was a result..

completely put me off ever ordering from the states, though, and i haven't done it since, despite seeing plenty i want (like this tesla vs. edison tee)!

I LOVE that one! Got one with the periodic table all as foods on it - brilliant.

That link's great, thanks Lucy. Might not be my last threadless order after all :)
