They currently run eight. There are a number of pubs for sale in the area, quite a lot in Stoke, but how many of those they'd want I don't know.

I imagine they've realised that a small brewery can have a regional presence such as Joules who have around 25 pubs in the North Midlands and Welsh Borders.

Not really, I can think of 2 or 3 excellent conference venues in Stoke already - more wont hurt, having choice and flexibility for when you need to put on an event is really useful.
