You could try martin lewis site, they have advice on dealing with parking charges.
Whatever happens best of luck getting it sorted and please let us know how you get on

If you want to contest it, your best chance is to go to http://www.pepipoo.com/ and see if the experts there can come up with any valid reason (e.g. signage not consistent with law) to contest the PCN. To be fair, they are pretty good on there and, more often than not, successful. However, the time and effort involved in 'winning' may or may not be worth it to you.

Not sure if the signage has changed, might be worth getting a up to date pic before challenging the charge

Any chance of saying I went in to town to get some cash so that I could buy a bottle of wine from Majestic?
You have still left the site though. It wouldn't matter if you had been into one of the shops, you still left the site while your vehicle was parked there.

There is also a good chance the parking warden has seen you arrive and leave etc.

This isn't a recent rule change on this car park. It has been like this for 10+ years.

So I went on to the UKCPS site, and all the evidence they have is still photos of my car parked up, and the signage. I've appealed stating unless they can provide evidence of me leaving the site, I won't be paying.

It looks like you've already dug yourself into a hole, by corresponding with them, before taking proper advice. This is what keeps these parking companies in business.

You may get lucky but, depending on what you've included in your appeal, you may have already given them what they need to win. The first rule for dealing with UKCPS (as with many other private companies) is not to indicate who was driving. In any case, first appeals get turned down as a matter of routine.

A lot of the "Advice" in that forum is well out of date coming from 2014. If you lose the appeal and fail to pay, then the company can, and from my experience, do take out Small Claims against the debtor. These almost always end in a CCJ which will damage a credit rating if not paid off without delay.

If they can provide evidence to back up their claim, then I'll reluctantly pay it. Without evidence, I don't see how they can enforce the penalty!

There is some good advice on there and I do like the MSE site for many things. However, the Pepipoo advice is much more tailored to each specific parking company, type of alleged breach and even individual car parks, as well as providing specific jargon to use in each particular circumstance.

With a bit of luck UKCPS won't be able to back up their "leaving the site" claim.

Good luck.

Thanks... that's what I'm hoping for, as the burden of proof is on them!

What day did you get caught?

Not leaving site is a very dubious one to charge someone on at the best of time tbh
