Pppp not every thread needs hijacking with insane conspiracy theories let alone using the misfortune of 2 families to push your agenda leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

completely agree with Chris, I do not remember any of these developments taking up so many column inches on the front page as this story.

So simply repeating a few relevant facts is an insane conspiracy theory and pushing an agenda? The inquest into the recent suicide suggested that it was far worse than a misfortune, and I think the family deserve to know the truth about the 'bullying'.

A new vision for the future of a town centre will help attract millions of pounds of investment, council

Councillor Frances Beatty with the Victoria Square war memorial which is getting refurbished for the 100th anniversary of the Great War.

A masterplan for the town is being drawn up for Stafford and residents are being asked for their views.
It is hoped Debenhams could open a new store – after the firm pulled out of the nearby Riverside complex, while the indoor market could be moved back to the centre of the Guildhall shopping centre, where it stood for years.
Some of the ideas will be on display at an exhibition in the town’s Market Square tomorrow (SAT). Options for the future development include bringing homes in to the town centre, a new department store and visitor attractions based around the town’s heritage. When Debenhams dropped put of the Riverside plans, bosses said they were ‘still committed to gaining representation in Stafford.
Councillor Frances Beatty, Stafford Borough Council’s cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: “I would encourage everyone to come and give their views at the exhibition and tell us what they think of the various ideas and how they want to see from their town centre in the future.”
She added: “This is about a vision for the next 10 to 15 years – and it is having this vision in place that will help attract many millions of pounds worth of investment in to the town.”

well thats all sorted then

Come on PPPP the coroner has ruled on this and the reports suggest disciplinary action was over exaggerated with no evidence at all of what you are suggesting. Read the ruling.

anyhow not getting involved with this as you and I are not privvy to the facts to make any worthwhile comments. the thread is about the town centre end of this discussion.

Can I just tale a moment here to try and figure out quite wether a town's boom is based
on its ability to enhance the quality of life of its denizens or line the pockets of its
business folk.

In the market square today were many vehicles advertising RPH motor repairs (or some
such) Is that really an appropriate use of a pedestrian zone?

Sounds like a good subject for a thread. Maybe you should start one and stop diverting others.

Right ..... back to the Boom and Gloom

Makes a change from all the assholes riding their bikes in the pedestrian area expecting young kids and the elderly to have eyes in the back of their heads as they silently approach, some at significant speed.

There will be a serious injury or worse before long there unless plod get a grip on it.

RPH would be in the market square as their owner is sponsoring the classic car event at the castle. I for one are quite happy to see his beautifully restored vehicles in the square promoting the castle event. If RPH did not get their hands in their pockets, there would be no classic car show (which is free) for the good folk of Stafford to visit.
