I have Trigger Finger. I've had it on & off for about 3yrs & on occasion it causes me great pain. :(

Has anyone else suffered from it? How do you get rid of the pain? I try to stretch my arm, wrist & fingers back against the pain, but this doesn't seem to help much.....I can't finger out what sets it off or how to stop it & the last few days have been particularly painful....help!

*to those tray may not know, Trigger Finger causes (in my case) my index & second finger to involuntary bend inward towards my palm, my wrist then inturn bends info my arm & the whole forearm also bends into itself....I look right stupid when it happens as its often very sudden like camp & the last few occasions have reduced me to tears :(

Is it actually a form of cramp, or just symptoms like it? I started suffering a similar thing in my toes (not pleasant) a few years ago and although people around me laugh when it happens it really REALLY isn't nice.

I sympathise with you :(

I sometimes gets something which maybe sounds similar in my hand and fingers . My fingers usually cramp up first and get stuck in a strange position then it usually spreads through my hand. Hand cramps and locks .looks deformed.usually only lasts about 15 seconds

I have it because I fractured my fingers and didn't know because I was a moronic teen. I didn't get to the doctor fast enough for them to fix it and re-breaking and setting them will not work. Could it be something like that?

It feels like camp - but even more painful -tinteweb describes it as the tendons pulling the fingers down - but my whole arm goes too! I did go to the Dr when it started, but she just said 'its trigger finger, not much to help it, get used to it'!

Mine lasts for about 2 - 3 minutes at a time, but can happen a lot of times in a day & can go on for weeks, but sometimes it doesn't happen for months....??? At the moment I have the same kind of feeling as just before you get camp - my whole thumb, index & second finger & forearm are tense/tight waiting to go off - grrrr

@wmrcomputers I know what you mean - husband laughs at me when it happens - I suppose I do look funny - he reckons I have alien hand syndrome! Its no laughing matter.

@Gomez I've never broken anything so I don't know what caused it - what do you do when it happens? Any hints or tips?

It's a symptom of tendonitis, in effect there are no muscles in your fingers and the flex and strength is operated by your tendons, the tendon in question travels up your arm. Symptoms can be swelling of the index finger, where the tendon is housed in a sheath there is a build up fluid, and the pain can travel the full length of your tendon up your arm thereby causing your arm to bend inwards. I am awaiting to see a specialist as I too have the problem, though I have been advised I will porbably not receive surgery for the symptom because of previous operations on my wrist.

I've not got the same as you folks but about 8 yrs ago i slipped down a man hole on site and its left me with a tendon problem in my feet.
Its real pain when it comes on so i know what your going through a pharma friend got me some Co codamol works a treat
You can buy it from Lloyds Pharmacy its only about £2:50 for a box of 32
Another thing you could try is take calcium tabs they help relax the muscle I do alot drumming and they help / stop the cramps
