Apple will be releasing mountain lion soon but here is the down side
Lion-compliant machines that won’t be able to run Mountain Lion:

Any Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook from late 2007 – late 2008 (Model Numbers: MB061*/B, MB062*/B, MB063*/B, MB402*/A MB403*/A MB404*/A, MB402*/B)
The Mid-2007 Mac mini (Model Numbers: MB138*/A, MB139*/A)
The polycarbonate iMac of late 2006 (Model Number: MA710xx/A)
The original MacBook Air which dropped in early 2008 (Model Number: MB003LL/A)

and it may well cost more than the usual £25

Looks like my mid 2007 MacBook Pro is now considered "antique" by Apple.

It's not listed so therefore it won't be compliant.

bit more info, it is said to be released some time in summer, the good stuff though is that it has twitter pretty much built in for all you twitter fans out there, more importantly is the security side of things has been fine tuned by gatekeeper security. but for that little bit more of a sneak peek - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ee3XCjLUTJk

I've had it confirmed at the Apple Store that Mountain Lion won't run on my MBP. Shame. Just have to buy a new Mac I think.

Hopefully it'll be an improvement on what I've heard about Lion..

Twitter integration was a big part of iOS5 too but in my opinion its not too essential, especially as you can get a desktop version from the App Store

sure sad times, I still not sure about the upgrade i did to lion as ntfs support has not been the same may give mountain lion a try but this time i have not been a dev on it so i was not locked to upgrading lol.

The twitter is not a huge thing by any means but the security aspects been done by gatekeeper is huge, lets face it they do computer security on a big scale.

Have a look here http://tuxgeek.me/2009/04/14/yoggie-gatekeeper-security-software-on-a-usb-mini-computer/

But i for sure will not get it till at least the third update but will keep an eye out on reviews up till then too

why? i haven't read anything about 10.8 yet, but i didn't even bother to upgrade to 10.7 because of all the negative things i read about it..

unless 10.8 does something magical that you desperately need/want, why on earth would you spend £1k on a new mac just to run it??

i'm sure there will be "unofficial" builds that will run on 2007 hardware before too long, anyway.. it's not that your machine isn't capable of 10.8, it's just that apple deliberately restricts which machines it can be installed on, so someone will come along and release a patch that will allow you to install it..

as i say, i haven't really read anything about 10.8.. are there any "killer apps", or is it just another push by apple to unify OS X and iOS?
