Indeed women can be just as bad as men, her indoors will never use the bog in Spoons cos in there the gals simply share a cubicle and then one of them pisses on the floor! Indeed when i first heard this i thought 'no way'! but it seems to be the norm. Please ladies save it for 'up anley'.......

... there is FREE SPEECH.
I would not advocate restricting free speech anywhere, I merely wish to voice my concerns that some people will find the tone of language in some threads offensive and may cease to contribute as a result, which is surely not in the spirit of the Forum.

Swearing is no substitute for wit, which is surely a good ingredient in any lively debate.

A question for any Forumite with children, say under 16s - would you be, or are you happy for your kids to read Stafford Forum?

it will come as no surprise to most of you that i'm not bothered by blue language lol.. without question, the most successful forums i use are those with very few rules.. something awful, dogs on acid, b3ta, etc. - these are all massive, thriving communities, and you can pretty much say what you like..

i'm not saying we should necessarily go down that route, but i would agree with mycult that stifling people too much does put people off..

that being said, i am much more amused by a clever double entendre or euphemism than i am a naughty word..

I think most kids would find a lot of the content too childish.......

indeed.. i would wager that this forum's insistence on correct spelling and grammar is far more likely to put the young 'uns off than effing and jeffing!

There speaks a man whose work has been spread over many fields.
Sat night's RtH had a Julian and Sandy sketch where they'd gone into film production with an outfit called 'Bona Prods'......priceless.........

I think swearing/profanities are well self controlled on here, so well, that if a real 'eff or jeff' sneakes in, its a surprize!
Having said all that, F-&%@+!&^$£, S-0X}#'@ P-1£*&^%$ W$%*&^)]!

If you are struggling with profanities, you can always refer to the dictionary
Oh! Tempt me! I haven't even opened that link, as since my, accident induced, word problems, those that come easiest to mind are profanities! (I knew he'd find some way of sneaking it in! Ed)

Can you not use the swearing filter to enable indivual user logins to select weather they want the language filter on or off on there own profile page? That way everyone can see what they want? If all it does is make it so when its read its changed rather than actually changing it would it make that possible?
