Along the same lines- last year I said to husband that we wouldn't bother with Valentine's day as our wedding anniversary is very near to it too....I still bought him a card and some gifts - but he didn't bother at all! I was absolutely gutted :(

Men- when we say we're not bothered, we are really!

This year he seems to of learnt from last year.....got a lovely bunch of roses, and he's taking me for a meal at Pastiche tonight... ..woohoo - we hardly ever go out :)

Obviously, this will be covering the anniversary thing, as well..?

Hmm. My other half explicitly told me not to buy her anything (and that without prompting I may add). So what you are saying is she really wants me to do something? But then I'll have wasted money on overpriced tat, which is something she objects to. Oh the confusion!

Look, it's dead simple. You're supposed to be overwhelmed by your desire to please her.

Buy her something that is economically viable and yet both flatteringly feminine and useful.

I suggest a pink mop.

Well that's what I said last year.....then was mortified that he didn't even buy me a card....and maybe a little heart shaped choccie.....

Vault boy gave me... are you ready? ... a loaf of tiger bread, a wispa easter egg and some cocktail sausages.
now I know he did last minute shopping in asda last night but I also did the same and know full well what actual valentines related tat there was in there.
He did try to book a nice meal at the posthouse because I'd bought a pretty dress for a ball which is now cancelled - so I'd still get to wear it - but they don't appear to be answering their phones... ever...

I was told by Mrs Trumpet last night that if I'd have bought every bunch of flowers from ASDA's reduced section she would have been mightily impressed by my financial initiative. I didn't, so she wasn't. Took her to the Swan at Forton though which did impress because she dislikes Valentine menus and being told what she can eat.
Rib eye steaks were superb.
