Vodafone - Coverage in stafford town centre

Has anybody been experiencing network coverage problems with Vodafone in Stafford town centre or surrounding areas ?

Someone tells me that there is a mast up by Frankie and Benny's on the Lichfield road which has some birds occupying the site and Vodafone refuse to do anything about it ?

Apparently the mast has had issues for the last few months right back since around july sometime

Has anybody in Stafford heard of this problem or had network coverage issues ??

Let me know ASAP....

British Gas have now told me (after 6 engineers coming to 'sort it' ) that the new Smart meter they have just installed will never send them any info ,and will always have to be read manually ,as they use the Vodafone network and the signal isn't getting through from my house in Wildwood!
One thing.... I now know not to consider changing to Vodafone next month when my T-mobile contract is up.

Sorry Vodaphone, I'm leaving you too in December. I've been with them for years but the reception is SO BAD in Stafford town that I am going to take my business elsewhere. What would people recommend as the best provider for this area?

I've been with T-mobile for over 8 years and my reception has suddenly gone really bad at home, getting either no signal or getting it and then losing it mid-call. Add to this the abosolutely appaling service I've been getting in the Stafford EE shop lately, especially yesterday when I went in to enquire about prices should I decide to renew my contract............... the female member of staff spoke to me like I was a bit of dirt ! I walked out of the shop determined to go elsewhere in a couple of weeks time when my contract expires.

Anyone recommend '3' network? The bloke in Carphone Warehouse on the retail park was very good when I called in to see what options were available ,so will most likely go through them whatever network I end up on (that is if the price is right! ).

EE has indeed gone to shite lately, I shall be leaving them as soon as I can. I went with Orange as they had the best signal in my house, which is like a black hole for phones. Once the merger happened I stopped getting a signal anywhere downstairs or in my bedroom, so essentially if I want to use the phone indoors I have to sit on the bog to do so.

Apparently three will supply a box that connects your phone to your router and routes the calls over your broadband, if this is the case I shall certainly be going with them.

They have recently stopped doing this due to having run out of boxes and have no timescale for when/if they will have stock back in.

So

Is it possible that 4G isn't really

It's just 3G tweaked

Which in turn has reduced the 3G capacity

In which case the Golden Era of telephones has ended

I have heard rumours that a telephone mast in/near Stafford has been taken down recently (maybe by the old police station) and it hasn't been replaced, which is why it is so terrible. As good as any other explanation I suppose!

I've had vodafone for 8 years - (it's a works phone) the signal has always been bad in town (by HSBC signal totally disappears)

Wolverhampton road - there is a spot where your phone disconnects -

If the choice was mine I would change to another provider :)

There may well be problems with O2 as well today.

I can not access email or Safari from my phone but messages are
getting through to my Mac.

Good luck folks!!

not sure about phone signal (for making calls) butIi can confirm comparing 2 samsung S3s - one on EE and one on 3 - the 3 would NEVER be able to connect to the internet in the centre of town which caused lots of frustration, whilst the one on EE always seemed to be able to get on the net.
on the flip side the one on EE has always had noticeable issues making calls from the house whereas the one on 3 doesn't seem to have.

I have always assumed making calls on mobiles from homes is drastically affected by all the beams etc in the house. Most people I know moan about never getting a signal in their own home

I find three has a strong signal in the centre of town, except oddly this morning when there was no signal at all whilst waiting in a cue on the Falklands giratory.

Ok - enough is enough with Vodafone. I am looking to change to Orange - can anybody advise what the service is like in Stafford please. Would be grateful for any feedback on other providers too so that I know who to avoid. Thanks

After suddenly having problems with T-mobile reception when they changed to EE I have now changed to Virgin . They use the T-mobile/Orange signal as well but I have had no problems at all since I changed last week.

Seemed to have EE problems here in Wildwood when their application for a new mast up here was turned down, I'm sure they pulled the plug in spite!

The problem is that the phone companies have been allocating spectrum to 4g. While they say they haven't, they have.
The good news is Vodafone is about to 150 000 brand new masts around the country, with only half of them for 4g. The rest is for 3g.

Vodafone have called this project spring which was them adding another 7 billion to their 12 billion budget for upgrades around the world.

Id say, if you're on vodafone, stick with them, because all the companies are having the same problems, and you'll just be moving from one problem to another. Perhaps dont renew your contract and just sit on the fence for a while and see you sorts the problems out the best,

Yeah, EE insist that nothing has changed yet for some inexplicable reason my signal is gash ever since the merger with t-mobile and 4g kicked off. People I know on 4g have no issues, most I know on 3g do. EE did offer to switch me onto a 4g contract at no extra cost, but it would reset my contract to another 24 months and I wouldn't get a new phone. I'm sure you can guess what I told them.

I've got until June to decide anyway, but at this rate I cannot go with EE or O2 anymore as neither get a signal inside my house.
