I am sure I spend less than 10% of my income on food, so that's more like 5% of our joint income. We eat very well, but why shop at Waitrose when I can get stuff of as good quality much cheaper. Makes no sense at all. Brand snobbery is often deluded.

I get alot of my raw ingredients, so fruit and veg, organic milk and free range eggs from Lidl, but it's range is limited and so I top up at Sainsburys. There is no doubt in my mind that Sainsburys processed foods are better than Lidl's, less additives and better quality. But each to his own. Personally I think top quality food is vitally important to health, what other people chose to put in their body is up to them!!!! But I do agree, apples is apples..............!

I think food is important to health too, which why I avoid processed food. Saturated fat is saturated fat.

I believe that the original research on which that 2013 article is very loosely based came to the conclusion that small quantities of saturated fat were desirable in the diet.
