Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful is the Saturday Play on Radio 4 this weekend.

went to see it and thought it was a good film but not a great film.The advertising and the interviews on tv and the trailers portrayed it as a film not to be missed and that it would warm your heart . Well I didn't think it was that good and i could have quite easily have watched something else.....Best film ever is ONE DAY

Birdsong was far better!

All that time and effort for a far fetched contrived story, the battle scenes were very well done though.

There are enough fantastic real stories from WW1 that could have been told without making up that nonsense.

Saying that it is worth going to see to get a feel for the horror of WW1 and it did make me laugh in places!
