Well-Known Forumite
Noticed a story in both the Express and Star and Staffs Post (a favourite of forumites I know) relating to 'Yobs' at Victoria Park.
Great headlines - short on substance.
Anyway, I'm going to try and paraphrase it. Some children (gang, yobs, teenagers, youths whatever grabs you) were climbing on the equipment. It sounds like the spider thingy. A 22 month child is playing underneath. One jumps off knocks in to the child.
The mum reports it to the police!?
She seems more angry because he didn't say 'sorry' or ask if the child was ok. The child was unhurt. Now I would be peed off if I had a kid hurt but is this really a police matter?
The police say they had a complaint but no crime was committed
A local councillor describes it as an 'assault' - now an assault is a crime but from descriptions in either paper it doesn't sound like an assault.
Then there is a random bit about this is why the park shouldn't open 24/7.
I don't know enough to comment on the 24/7 thing but how does this day time non-crime / assault / gang attack / violent disorder (delete whichever you wish to believe) lead to that conclusion.
I'm lost
Is it a waste of police time?
Does it support non 24/7 opening?
Were they going to open 24/7 (other councillor says 11pm)
Does anyone else care? or do i have too much time to think about newspaper stories because I was not at work today?
