We are planning a little day/afternoon out to celebrate a family birthday, but in this horrible, cold, winter weather - ideas are very thin on the ground!

So - what are you all upto?! Can I steal any ideas...

We are having a morning out shopping for wall lights, paint and a new shower.

Perhaps not the best way to spend a family birthday.

Got a friend coming round tomorrow, and off to visit another on Sunday

Plans the weekend after for a couple of photography trips, including evening low light stuff in London and a trip to photograph waterfalls in Wales :)

Attingham Park, just outside Shrewsbury, is always good vfm if you're a national trust member or care to join. Bracing walk through the extensive parkland, possibly taking in the trail round the remains of the WW2 USAF base, wander through the walled garden and observe the slumbering bees, buy some of their organic veg or some secondhand books from the rambling bookshop in the stables, and tuck in to a nice afternoon tea with scones and that. I believe the scaffolding has just come down inside the house after they've spent two years building a huge glass roof over the fancy ironwork of the Nash original, which had been leaking for the last two hundred, so that should be worth a look. Next month they have a couple of late nights at which one can wander around admiring snowdrops by the light of hundreds of tea lights and then have a glass of plonk, which sounds like a good excuse.
