I'm with Em K. Cept i've liked the new look from the start, apart from the thin line between the posts. And if I can work out how use things on here, then anyone can!

It means a great deal, thanks. :D

I realise that the change is a big one (that was the whole point of it, really), and I realise that some people won't be overly enamoured with some of the changes, but the overall feeling I'm getting is that most people are enjoying the new look and new features; it just takes some getting used to for those of us who are stuck in our ways. ;)

And I genuinely mean that when I say "those of us", because the whole thing has been a learning curve for me as well! There are still many things that I haven't figured out from an Admin perspective, and many things that I initially thought were horrendous when compared to the old Forum, but I'm slowly but surely coming to see all the benefits that the new Forum brings.

I have changed the wording in the navbar to try and make things a bit clearer for people used to the old system, so the previous advice:

Even now, if i was to go and click the What's new' link i have 10 pages, anything past say the first page is old news to a regular user like myself so it's a little foggy to say the least when ihave to check the dates of posts to see if it is in fact new to me!

Just scroll to the top of The Forum and click the link to the left of 'What's New?' that says:

MARK FORUMS READ

That will mark everything 'read' and you will no longer have 10 pages when you click the What's New? link. Then, from now on when you click the What's New? link it will only show you stuff you haven't read. If you want to read something, click it; if you don't, just click MARK FORUMS READ again to let The Forum know that you have read everything you want to. :)

...is no longer strictly correct. As in, the steps are the same, but the wording is different.

Do people prefer how it is now (i.e. "Mark everything read," and "Show unread posts") or how it was to start with (i.e. "Mark forums read," and "What's new?")?

How do you do this? I'm mucking about on my nephew's iPad atm, and just added a shortcut to the home screen, and all it showed was a small screenshot of the page (i.e. not the fancy icon) :?:

Just tried to do it myself again. (add to homescreen)
Indeed, it does NOT work at the moment!
Admin, did you remove the image or script line from the website by mistake?
If you have to make a new picture, make it 144 x 144 pixels.
This way it looks a lot better on the new Ipad...

Ah, well spotted! I had made some template changes, and it seems I removed the relevant Apple touch icon code. I believe I have fixed it now (although I don't have any Apple devices to test it on, so if someone could let me know that would be great). :)

I haven't created a 144 pixel one for the new iPad yet, but I will do when I get a chance.

Makes me worry that I might have accidentally removed some other things, though! :hmm:
