Suprising that there has been a serious, road closing accident on this section of the Weston Road. If it had been on a faster section near to the Showground or out towards Weston Bank then I could understand but the bit where Tixall Road joins by the Met Bar is usually jammed with slow moving traffic - surprised anyone could have been going fast enough to have had such a serious coming together

As I understand it the incident is where the Tixall Road JOINS the Weston Road by Co-op / The Met Bar

The Police are looking for witnesses of the accident:

"Officers from Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Weston Road in Stafford.

The collision happened at approximately 9.50am today, Thursday 2 February, near the Metropolitan Bar and involved a dark blue Mercedes CLK and a light green Rover 25.

Officers attended with colleagues from the ambulance service and the road remained closed until 12pm.

As a result of the collision the driver of the Rover, an 80-year-old woman, was taken by Air Ambulance to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The 68-year-old driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the officer in the case Sgt Jez Heath on 101 quoting incident number 154 of 2 February."

I'm not really suprised - some people shoot right out of tixall road without looking properly. And recently I've seen a lot of people turning right when they are not supposed to!!
