The only time i ever went Xmas shopping on Oxford St in that there London, which i have solemnly promised to never, ever, do to myself ever again, i saw Elvis. He looked almost as pissed off as i was. It was the only thing about the entire experience that approached some sort of redemption for that that preceded it.

Anyway, here's Indoor Fireworks, which is my favourite - that one's live but here's the studio version.

Happy it's not Christmas any more.

... it's good to have as many different points of view as possible round here - and I dare say I agree with some of the points you make, if not the way in which you make them.

Rick Wakeman was on 5 Live with Danny Baker this morning.

He told a story about needing to pay rent of £8, so going down to the studios where he could pick up £2 for a quick addition to the post-production of whatever might be needed - hoping to get four of them but nothing was going.

Just as he was about to give up hope he was offered a full session, that would pay £9, later that evening. So he went to the pub, figuring that he had £1 over, for,a few bevvies.

When he got back to the studio it was T.Rex getting ready to record -

- and he asked what they wanted.

Marc Bolan said he wanted a glissando after the first few bars - Wakeman said surely you could just do that yourself? - Bolan said do you want the £9 or not?

It is the only piano piece on the track.

You can hear his one-and-only contribution on that track (for nine quid) at around 12 seconds.

Yes, absolutely brilliant, wasn't it, that interview? And that was just one story - there were at least half a dozen more. Like when he was with The Strawbs and their PA broke down and Dave Cousins asked him to improvise for god knows how long.

And the time he had to play keyboards for Elton John.

He played on the studio version of this as well.

Another shop full of crap then. Just what Stafford is short of
Is there any chance, in any of your comments, that you for once, can stop being so friggin negative?!
I was out for a bit earlier - in the sort of place where you hear songs that you wouldn't necessarily put in your head space yourself (which tbf is pretty much everywhere outside of one's own living space, but come with me on this), and i heard a song that wasn't actually the song i thought it was. Though obviously i thought it was when i did.

I was almost sure that it was what i thought it was, but it was quite quiet where i was, in a quite loud environment, and on reflection i'm now quite sure that it wasn't what i thought it was and what it actually was was probably something entirely different to what i thought it was.

When i got home i instantly YouTube'd what i thought it was - even though i wasn't even entirely sure what that might have been - pretty sure it was 'that Badly Drawn Boy song with the French Horn' sort of thing.

And what it was wasn't, but what i thought it was is -

- and it putted a little bit of sunshine in my life.

@HopesDad - what makes you go * and now i'm in suddenly in love with everything * ?

Please tell me there there is something? Anything? Say something, say something...

Anything?
