F*** it. If we're going to hand over Europe to Vlad … at least we can listen to some of their music. (And I always liked this song.) ;)

PS … I've drunk with Russians. When it comes to drinking … we're pretty much f*****.

Kenneth Horne and Dickie Murdoch were working in the Air Ministry in London, organising materiel for the Russian convoys during the war. One 'lunchtime', they were entertained by a Russian delegation and returned, having had a rather more than adequate supply of vodka.

In their inebriated state, they stumbled into and trashed the office of some high-up official, probably an Air Marshall or suchlike, then fell asleep in their own office.

When they woke up, they realised what they had done and scoured the building, hoping to be able to cover their tracks, although they couldn't remember who the victim had been - but, they never found out who it was - wherever they had trashed, it had all been reinstated and nobody ever revealed who the victim had been...

The Russians do still have the best national anthem.

A couple of lads from Russian ship came aboard our ship in Madras and asked they could borrow one of our films. We got the best one out of the box, Get Carter with Michael Caine (this was in the 70's,) and they asked if some of us would come aboard their ship as not all of them could speak English, and we could translate the dialogue.

What a session that turned out to be. Russian style of drinking ? … SHIT OR BUST !!! :pint:

I translated via my counterpart (their Sparky) as best I could, even though I'm pretty sure they showed the three reels of film in the wrong order. Not that it made much difference the state we were in.

I've just come in from seeing these boys - without the violinist this time, he's apparently got some woman pregnant, although he is married to her.

Tonight -

It was a bit chilly, so I came in and took control of the fire.
