What can realistically be done with the old Co-Op?

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I have always thought that the area where the old Co-op is would have been a better spot for Marks & Spencer. It would have needed to be completely demolished and a new store built there. It would have kept them right in the middle of the town centre rather on the outside edge. But I doubt they would have wanted to move there as the 'collect by car' service wouldn't have been so convenient for customers.

Speaking of M&S ,why couldn't the old M&S store have been incorporated into the new retail park, with b&m and stuff on, it's close enough.

I am not sure what the link is really:

The old m&s had different owners to the north north walls site and M&S was put up and sold 5 years after north walls was acquired.

M&s is sited across road from the back of the north walls site and belongs to a row of shops whose frontages are on the high street with few development options

I cannot see the attraction of the old m&s to the owners of the north walls site, which has actually now changed from the ownership that developed it.

Poor old Ripley never gets the credit for that quote, it always goes to Corporal Hicks … (who says it a minute or so later.) But it was Ripley's idea … (I'm not necessarily saying it applies to the Stafford site .. but it definitely should be on the agenda.) :teef:

I can't imagine m&s there for a moment. I doubt they would of wanted to move into a converted ex supermarket store....
