What do you Call your Neighbours?

That's my next thread 'What do your Neighbors Call YOU?'
When we got the first computer at work, we made a randomised horse-racing game, using office nicknames for the horses - The Man With The Golden Pencil, Just-A-Quickie, The Newt, Doom And Gloom, The Druid, etc.

One chap was quite taken with it and spent quite a long while working out just who was who, until he had one left - "Who's "Megamouth"?", he innocently asked....

Most of our immediate neighbours are known by name, with the exceptions of...
The window-cleaner
The car repair bloke
How boring eh?!

on another note though it's also made me wonder how many self employed live on an average street. On ours there's myself and the 2 above that I know of and could possibly be more. That's 3 local tradesmen in around 45 houses.

Back onto topic.... I dread to think what we're known as! To our immediate neighbour (an absolute bloody star to put up with the noise our kids make) we're probably known as the nightmare next-door. I should imagine there are a few that know me as "the bloke with the chickens" as well - although I no longer keep any.

Are they the same as the Bangers next door?
Think the Bangers next door have decided to go into competition with them to see who can be the loudest  . Think the Bangers may be winning! (Surely the lads mother is a bit embarrassed as she's in situ while the are 'performing' :ohno: ). They are 'The noisy gits' , but may now be renamed the Bangers .

boringly, those around us are called by 1st name, bar 1 cos we don't know if its June or Jean and we can't read the Christmas card to know for sure, or the number of house, or position of house (corner, end), or Scottish Betty, big Betty.

We're the same, only 9 houses in our close, refer to all by name except 'the unmarried mum up the corner' and ' the wifebeater with the cars'.

I saw Dean Friedman last year, round the back of the old Sheridan - he has a good take on neighbours...

Most of the neighbours are known by first name, but the old bloke over the road is known as 'Beacon Bill' due to his unnerving habit of standing sentry at his gate for long hours observing all neighbourhood comings and goings. I have no idea what his real name is :). There was a lad opposite who used to be known as 'Danny Dumpit' due to his love of literally throwing his car in to any tiny space still remaining. He's moved now and I doubt his name was actually Danny :D

Yes we also call our neighbours by their names because we know everyone in our cul de sac. (Apart from one couple, we do know their names but prefer to call them "Them in the corner"

If someone moves out and another moves in then within a week we would be on first name terms.

I probably know 90% of the whole village by name.

I dont think that I have ever live anywhere ever where I didnt know my neighbours.

Except when I lived in London. :D Then I didnt even know who lived next door.

I call my neighbour Sue.

Plot twist - because she tripped over my imperfectly laid slabs and then sued me.

Plot twist - that didn't happen, she's just called Sue.
