What kind of shop would people like to see?

@proactive isn't there a sex shop next to Back2bikes (hahahaaaa - that sounds wrong now) & saucy lingerie in Aztec cycles? Handy for transport trips to the Chase too.

They must have passed me by.

Goodness only knows what goes on at Aztec Cycles now. Every time I go past things are different, apart from the fact the place needs a bloody good clean.

There's a sex shop round by Back2Bikes called Angels. And there used to be one called Romeo & Juliets in that tiny arcade where Just 4 Jents is.

What would that involve?
The sale of appropriate accoutrement for Dogging?

Maybe kneeling pads, woolly vests for the winter and mittens, for all sorts of protection, compass, gps, the sky (night sky obviously) is the limit.

Don't you get dogging up Cannock Chase in the daytime then? Or is it exclusively in the evening/ nighttime?

It's a different type of dogging during the day, involving long walks and fresh air.

I believe...

I'd love to have a really good second hand bookshop, perhaps one with lovely little cafe. Could spend hours browsing the books and then have a nice cuppa and piece of cake.

That is something I would use, I'd even be able drag the daughter in law out of her cave too.

I can spend hours in a charity shop mooching through second hand books.

I somtimes hold book sales to raise money for church/village funds and love putting them into genres, then alphabtical into authors etc. I just love getting lost in another world.

I also love the smell of a book, the feel of a book, I love turning a page, I love looking at a cover and then reading the back to see if its for me, I love second hand books and wondering who else held this book before me and did they love it like I love it.

There is just something so magical about books.

I just cant get excited about a kindle...they are for people that like reading, which is different to those that like books.

We aren't bookworms I'm afraid so that's unlikely to happen. Sorry. Keep the ideas coming though :)

Nothing for certain yet, but my better half and I are thinking of opening a small shop. My initial thoughts were just to have it as a computer workshop

1) good old traditional second hand shop - nothing along the cash converters type of place.
2) an eBay trading shop for those who don't-do online. We order items in for a small fee, or sell your items online etc.
3) used appliance shop (although one has recently failed in Stafford)
4) homely members-only coffee lounge that charges a small weekly fee for you to have unlimited access to somewhere you can meet with friends, make yourself hot drinks and generally just relax for as long as you like. A few sofas and coffee tables, the daily newspapers to read etc. Kind of a home-from-home for the times when you just need to look at a different 4 walls and have some company.

Ok this is me , just my thoughts, so not representative of the wider community.

1) a second hand shop...selling what though? Clothes, furniture, toys , bikes?
Personally there are some things I would buy second hand but I cant bear tat.
What could you offer that people wouldnt go to a charity shop or say Katharine House warehouse?

2) Most people can order online. I dont think that you would get enough business for it to be feasible.

3) Used appliances. It depends where you are based. Some areas run these very well. I personally wouldnt be interested in this but others may be. However it would take ages to build up a good customer base as you have to take time to build credibility.

4. No. Why would someone pay a fee when they can go to any coffee shop for free? It just sound like a grown up youth club and people can go to their community centre and do it for nothing...lots of communities are running these coffee houses already.

Where is the shop going to be?

You then need to decide what is missing from that area, look at the locality and then decide.
