Anyone got any good plans?

I LOVE HALLOWEEEN!

I'm super excited - small family get together at the mother in laws -

Have made the other half a 'spider hat' he is thoroughly unimpressed....

I want to go as a zombie bride but am struggling to find a wedding dress on the cheap that I have the heart to deface...

Anyway what you guys up to? xxx

A friend on Facebook- in Michigan - has just mentioned that her kids' school has ruled that Hallowe'en costumes must not include weapons or blood.

I thought they were compulsory in US schools.

Iarnród Éireann ran a Gothic Train round Dublin the other night - for Bram Stoker's birthday. http://www.thewandererphotos.com/Officialevents/2014/Underground-Gothic-Sunday-26th/i-kp6Skk2

..took most of the lights out and ran it into a little-used tunnel..

Love Halloween, it's also Samhain for us, my daughters Birthday and the eve before my wedding anniversary so it's kind of a big deal here. This year a friend is having their Birthday party too so we are off to that. A whole day and night of celebrating :D !
The kids, except eldest spawn, will be dressed up as usual and it's a fancy dress party so myself and the OH will be in costume for that. I will be a policewoman as I've got the outfit lol and the OH is going to be a convict.
Dinner will be Halloween pasta and Spawn3 always wants a Halloween related cake. Games of pin the spider on the web etc will be played, pumpkins will be carved and if there is time, spooky films will be watched. We'll light a candle and make an offering to the ancestors, nice bit of cake and a drink does the trick, as we think of those who are no longer with us.
If any Jehovah's Witnesses turn up, they will be sacrificed! Mwahahahaha

A few years ago I butchered a hole in a large plastic patio table, covered it in a black cloth and removed the bottom from a plastic mixing bowl which I filled with sweets. A small grave sign read "Take one if you dare" and I spent the night hunched up under the table ready to raise my hand at the next group of trick or treaters!
Thankfully all of the parents found it funny, but I did have a crick neck for several days that followed. The bonus was that the wife managed to have a night infront of the telly without the dogs being set off by the door knocking every few minutes.

This year...... she can do whatever she likes. I'll be in the hot tub! ;)

I shall be working, leaving the youngest to ignore all the trick or treaters that knock the door.
Someone has calm the poor cats down when all the knobs in the area let off the fireworks too.

Cheap tacky imported Yank tradition deigned to fleece us of more money!

What we should be doing is celebrating the failure of that nasty popish plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament, but then again was it such a good thing they failed?

In past years Mrs T's daughter's friends (fiends?) from various parts of the country have descended on Eccy for a fancy dress pub crawl & sleepover. Daughter cannot get time off work this year and will be stuck down in Oxford but it looks like said friends are still coming anyway.
So, the short answer is, getting p*ssed.

I could point out that Halloween has been around longer than there has been an America but I've a feeling some are too humbug to care. You only spend what you want to. One year I was so broke, the ancestors got a jam sandwich and a mug of tea, I don't think they minded lol.

Indeed it has, but it took the Yanks to turn it into the festival of overspending on cheap tat, intimidation and over-priced meals and drinks on the night, that it is now.
