i'll be after a job in/around the 'ford in the next 12 months or so.. my current job involves sitting around at some IT reseller watching my ass grow, while posting on the forum.. anything like that in stafford?

i check the newsletter now and again, plus computer weekly, but nothing ever seems to crop up in stafford.. am i really going to have to get a job in wolverhampton or some shiz?

There's feck all in Stafford tbh. You're going to have to travel a bit I'm afraid unless you fancy a stint at PC World. ;)

shit yeah, i forgot you got that big-ass pc world now innit.. but, er, no thanks lol..

yeah, i've pretty much resigned myself to having to commute once i land back in the borough.. anyone here work in IT? if so, where (i mean geographically, but feel free to reveal your employer if you want) and what do you do?

There is a feck off huge It geek palace next to the Uni, surely that will be porn to you? Its called Staffords techonolgy park, this could open up some cyber doors for you maybe.

I thought when I left london and came home to find a job as a graphic designer, this would be impossible. But I was thankfully mistaken as long as you are prepared to travel a lickle bit you shouldn't have any trouble.

yeah, andreas rex worked there for a while innit.. in fact, one of our customers at my current place are based there, if i'm not mistaken - "Ardentia" i think..

thing is, i don't have any formal IT qualifications beyond a crappy computer studies a-level, so i'm thinking it might be hard getting anything even remotely decent despite the fact i'm a massive computer geek and could do half these jobs perfectly competently..

meh..

yeah, i think i may have to just bite the bullet and accept that commuting to a large city is my best/only option..

thing is, i'm chronically lazy, so all this sounds like far too much effort..

You should sign up to The Guardian RSS feed for relevant jobs. You can pretty much sign up for any search, so you only get sent job that match the criteria you set. I think there might be surprisingly many for Stafford and the surrounding area. Don't know if any other job sites have RSS feeds, but it might be worth a look.

We could set up our own splinter university with our own courses, qualifications and certificates. Perhaps call it Phoney Institute for Education (PIE).
we could have lectures on pies...

A few posts under my belt
there's been a big re-org in IT throughout the council, bound to open up some vacancies in the next couple of months or so.
Depending on what you actually wanna do, i believe there are some desktop support possibly server support posts coming up, they'll start on a scale 6 which i think is around the 20k mark if that's any good for ya

hmm...I ain't really got any IT quals just an Adv. GNVQ in IT, HND Software Engineering and doing a Degree part time. with over 5 years experience, 3 of which at a managerial level, i'm perhaps the worst paid person in staffordshire lol cos I ain't got a degree (or cos my boss is a cheapskate lol).
Looks like Argos Direct :P hehe.
Nah seriously if you have experience you'll find it better than these complete numbskulls that come outta uni. i went staffs uni and i dont think i met ONE intelligent person hehe (sorry if you went there ;))

qualifications ain't worth the paper they're printed on...but to get in to somewhere like M$ you need one :( buggers.
