Where is the best pub grub?

I struggle to find a good pub anymore that does good old fashioned home made pub grub. The Chetwynd Arms I thought was one of the best but has since been done out and added to the long list of pubs that do pre-set menu's and it's sad. The Greyhound at Burston is pretty good but you get fed up of the same stuff. The Bull (maybe Bull's Head) at Alton is fantastic but just a bit too far to go. Can anyone recommend a value for money ( I have four kids) pub that does good old fashioned pub grub meals.

Carvery at the Radford Bank is delish!

Only £3.50 Monday to Saturday, absolute bargain!

Had a nice bit of traditional pub grub down the Spittal Brook a few months back.. that was top notch too.

I will be able to add myself to this soon. I'm in the process of setting up a mobile catering business that deals with more healthier options like, paninis, filled pittas, tortilla wraps, salads etc. Oh and maybe Doughnuts, (can't have all good and no bad). When it's set up and running and I've found a more permanent venue I will add myself to this and forumites could get a discount.

Went there last Sunday. £6.50 for Sunday dinner's pretty good value. Only drawback was the meat didn't actually taste of anything.

I will agree with the Luck Penny. My wife's family lives around the corner from the Luck Penny, so that is their pub of choice. I have been there quite a few times while visiting and the food and atmosphere has always been fantastic.

BTW: AndyST17, you wouldn't happen to be the one that works at the Luck Penny, would you?

What can I say, I love the pub.

Thanks for the welcome. Even though I live over in the States, I'm glad to see that I know at least a little about what you guys are talking about in Stafford.
