Has anyone in Littleworth/Cotonfields area had any items or materials taken recently from their garden? Last few times we've had stuff taken (reoccuring issue) we've been informed or have seen this van in the area/alleyways. Just wondering if anyone has had an similar problems.

I live in next street the backs of which are adjacent to Cambridge St. Not seen anything sorry but will keep a look out.

it'll be the 'scrap men'.

we're having a massive problem with them round our way in sheffield.

with the prices of metal getting higher and higher, these lowlifes are just taking what isnt nailed down and giving it a good shove if it is.

report it to the police, there is a national 'hot-metal' operation going on at the mo.

if nothing else, it'll give them something to look out for.

The totters were around earlier in the week.

Although I have been driving a white LDV in littleworth this week, it wasn't me!

The scrap men were definately around yesterday. They collected some old tins from my mothers garden on Smallman Street, just around the corner from you.

do you mean the rag n bone pikies that go around? what the hell is with that weird "call to prayer" they do?? sounds like something from a hideous horror film..

not that i'm having a pop at them.. they come round here at least once a week, and have had loads of crap of us (old cooker, old door, old bed, etc.) so they defo provide a service.. it's just that weird noise they make.. like playing a pipe, fashioned out of a human colon, while shouting "eat your eyes, we'll eat yer eyes!"

I've seen more and more of these around recently (open backed vans full of junk metal). They just seem to drive around.

i do indeed.

the difference is those that actually ask before taking stuff and those that actively search stuff out to nick whether its for scrap or not.

yep, its because the international prices for metal are going through the roof (mostly driven by the chinese booming development and their industrial needs). anyone with a decent amount of copper, lead, etc can earn a pretty penny. especially when its not yours to flog in the first place.

if you see them- report them to the police.
