Wondering if anyone knows of someone who could put some frost effect film on for me. The windows are 800mm x 350mm if it helps.

can you get the aerosol spray things in the shops still?

im sure other forummers have used them on their windows.

or are you after the film so that it can be removable?

I used a can of spray frosting from Wilko...was about a fiver I think. The prob is that unless you spray on the inside of the 2 panes (assuming you've got double glazing) then it scratches very easily and starts to look crap pretty quickly. I've just had my front window professionally frosted (they sand blasted it) and it looks much, much better. Unfortunately I don't know how much it was as next door's insurance paid for it! :D

I've used the spray stuff on several patio doors and it's not perfect, but it does the job. This was just to put a pattern on the glass to show when the door is there, rather than an even coating over the whole pane. Wilkinson's used to have the Fablon clear 'obscuring' patterned sheets. It's not frosting, but it does prevent clear vision.

I've tried the sheet stuff but didn't do a very good job of fitting it so I took it off. It needs to be a good finish and preferably match some other windows on the property, which is why I've decided to get seone In to do it rather than attempt anything else myself.

The company that did mine was Area Glass somewhere in Stoke. I'm very impressed with the result though there may be cheaper places to get it done.

It was after getting a quote for £170 from them ( job will take max 30 mins and materials no more than £10 ) that I started this thread. I think rip off is being kind on them personally.
