This gets discussed now and then.

Somebody near me has a wireless printer that seems to be available to me - I'm tempted to send it something 'interesting' to print.

Yes, send them a warning that their printer is accessible to others.

Back in the early days of wireless accessories someone became annoyed that their cursor kept jumping around the screen. Then they watched in horror as without them doing anything Paint opened itself and the word "Hello" was written across it. Advice given to them followed two main lines -

    1. The computer had been taken over by an evil entity and should be buried at the crossroads with a stake driven through it.

    2. A neighbour had bought the same model of wireless keyboard and mouse, they were interferring with each other, the neighbour had realised what was happening and was trying to make contact using a program that was likely to be installed on most computers.

I thought I might send them the Anarchist Cookbook and then ring Crimestoppers.

I believe it's something to do with "WiFi Direct" and an option on the printer concerned allowing people to connect that way rather than the usual network address...

I was questioned by the other half when she discovered prints off the printer regarding the Nightclubscene of LGBT Madrid.... It was only when I was working from home and something else came through the printer that we discovered it was 2 doors down (their daughter is studying Spanish at Wolverhampton Uni).

After a bit of research we turned off the Wifi direct option off on the printer driver settings....
