Work Experience

Hello everyone.

Earlier today, I have been told that I need to complete Work Experience during December 2011, and I don't know where to go. I can't find any opportunities when I search the internet, and I have been told not to choose anything that is close to family members.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any opportunities?

I'm keen on working with computers, but I don't mind doing other things.

And yes, I am local. I go to Walton High School and I'm 15 years old.

Some of my interests are using computers, socialising and having a challenge to complete.

'Sonic' is my son and I have only just found out about this work experience thing and him putting requests for help on the forum from his school computer.

He is doing languages as well as being good at IT, but hasn't got foggiest idea what he wants to do as a career.

Any suggestions extremely welcome as he has got to start applying for job experience between now and september.

Any help would be much appreciated folks :)

Extra points for using his own initiative in that case, and finding Stafford Forum of his own accord. :D

Good luck with the work experience, Sonic.

you could try ask Super Radio. they are an on-line community radio station in Stafford. they might be able to help you with work experience (possibly)

Thanks for the idea Kenco.

It looks interesting, and I have made a note of the contact details, but my teacher has told me to run any E-Mails that I intend to send out by him first.

(Mum hasn't even noticed the link on the sidebar before, lol. It looks like she will be tuning into that everyday now. :) )

What type of computing work experience are you looking for? like web design, graphics, fixing computers or even building computers?

I have never had experience in building or fixing computers . I have played around a bit on the computer myself doing graphics. As yet, we haven't covered web design in I.T.lessons.

I would be interested in any computer work in an office, and I'm keen to learn as much as I can.

Any other office environment work would be welcome as well. I would like a job where I am actually doing some work instead of just running around making the tea etc. I don't mind making the cuppas as well though. ;)

I would suggestion asking the Staffordshire University they have a scheme for 14 to 19 on work experience

http://www.staffs.ac.uk/about_us/university_departments/ssr/work_experience/

or if not their might be some local web based/computing type companies in staffordshire technology park that could/might be able to take you on for work placement

there plenty of business there from small to large ones

Highly likely, yes.
