Hi i know some of you are gurus when it comes to this type of thing, i have a mate who has been nagging me for a while to use XBMC saying it is better than Plex, i already use Plex on my now tv box, so does anyone know if it is possible to stream XBMC from my pc to my tv with a roku or similar type of thing?

Why exactly do you want to change from Plex? I use XBMC my self and you don't stream XBMC from your PC, you have XBMC installed on a device local to the TV. XBMC can then play content from your PC across the network.

Plex was originally 'forked' from XBMC, so they're fairly similar anyway.

Pretty sure the roku doesn't do XBMC, something to do with the chipset used. I used XBMC briefly and it was great for local stuff, but I need to stream externally and plex just seemed loads better for it. Getting the nowTV boxes for £8 a time was just the icing on the cake.

I understand that Basil had a BMC, but had some trouble getting it to start....

Thank you all, i wanted to try it because my mate has been going on about the amount of channels you can add to it, my tv is a smart tv with wifi so maybe there is away of doing it with that, i have also been told that Apple tv version 2 when cracked will stream it to.

I'm always wary where these channels source their material from, and more importantly how you interact. Anything bittorrent based could lead to a visit from the feds, I like my IP hidden at all times and am never sure what measure are being taken without my knowledge.
