Yet another example of how well society is doing..

Perhaps an opportunity for specialist apprenticeships?

( It was a fair sized tub, though. )

Society is def screwed, especially when you can't even give lifts to kids anymore in case you're a paedo

Adults who ferry groups of young people on behalf of clubs like the Cub Scouts - and families who host pupils from abroad on school exchange trips - will come under scrutiny for the first time.

Failure to register with the Home Office's Independent Safeguarding Authority could lead to criminal prosecution and a fine for volunteers. Clubs will also face a £5,000 fine if they use people who have not been cleared.
Apparently its cos Ian Huntley was able to become a caretaker at a school, which to me seems a bit OTT. Why not just check all who work with kids?

I thought Ian Huntley was checked and nothing came up anyway?

Ian Huntley was checked, but the allegations were not disclosed. Whether they would be now or not , I just don't know. What I do know is that it would have made little, if any, difference. The girls didn't attend his school. They attended another school where his girlfriend worked and had come to see her, initially. If he didn't get the school job he could have worked almost anywhere else and it would have been just as likely to happen. I presume that she would have come up OK.

If anybody asks me for £64 to pay for what we are already paying for anyway, then I am likely to offend.

Sorry, I must have been away, I was not aware we had a society

I have been busy preparing the GBH/Robbers' defence and it can be best seen in the following :

The only society that i've seen recently is the CWS, and that's not what it was.

As for the defence, I think that it's only his compensation that is still at issue....

That makes sense, I couldn't remember if he had been convicted or just had allergations made against him in the past.

I am all for protecting children but unless the reinvest the £64 per person into a death camp for these unspeakables then I too am likely to offend.

What about people who are in the situation where you have a partner with kids and you look after them when s/he is away or working or whatever, do you have to have disclosure then too?

No. You can do what you like at home. Communal school runs are an issue, though. They are vague about where the tipping point is.

We had the Spar lorry driver situation last week. The poor mother appears to have had no idea of his past. Would she have been able to find out?

Fair enough. I suppose the point of contention will be after school clubs held at a parent's home, for example when I was a nipper I went to a friend's house after school (was picked up by their parents along with their son) for two hours whilst my parents finished work. The parent I stayed with was not affiliated with the school at all except in this way and along with me, another two boys also stayed for the same reason. As far as I'm aware no money was ever exchanged and it was purely done as a favour amongst friends.

I appreciate from the story that the car journey alone warrants the disclosure, however what about the 'club' held at home, would that be seen as visiting friends or as a potential 'situation'?

I guess we shall have to wait and see how this pans out.

A CRB check is only valid for a day anyway .. so it all becomes even more nonsensical
I always thought that when I had my last job, I had to have a CRB and fairly obviously it is out of date the moment after it is issued.

Make it three.

I feel like getting checked and then punching a copper, just to make a point, you understand.
