Support Stafford Hospital

It hasn't been so bad of late, but there was a spate of people signing up not so long ago with what seemed like the sole intention of slagging off Bailey and her supporters.

I don't really see that the job of highlighting causes of concern in all hospitals, not just Stafford, is over. One of the best avenues for bringing concerns to light is via patient experience - this is what CTNHS does not just here but similar groups inspired by them have been formed elsewhere.

I want the hospital to survive as well, but there will still be a place for a watchdog of some sort to ensure that standards remain high.

I think you are totally right.
There must be similar situations across country that are similar to what we have here .
The need of the whole NHS is for people like CTNHS
to focus not on the good job they did in bringing to light the failings of the hospital here but to help communities bring to the attention of the government the failings elsewhere.

Really i'm just reiterating things that MD has been espousing for yonkers years. I hope you didn't think that i was having a dig at you in my previous post, i was just trying to answer the question posed by yours.

The more i think about it, the more i see that the two campaigns are really entirely unrelated, despite the confluence of aims. To be entirely honest i don't really follow the outpourings of either in any great depth, but the difference as far as i see it is one of approach. Ultimately it boils down to this - is any price worth paying to save the hospital?

I truly believe that a community the size of Stafford, which, it shouldn't be forgot, is earmarked to have not only the growth inherent in the rehousing of Army personnel here but the already planned thousands of houses besides, should have a hospital that provides the services necessary to cater to that need.

But

Do we desire it regardless? I'm more than happy to believe that things are not what they were. I'm more than happy to take my loved ones and myself there to be helped because things have changed. So long as they have.

I still say that there will always be a place for those that have bad experiences to have a forum for them - just like 'pon 'ere when things work well those criticisms can be a good thing.

I'm rambling now, and am losing my train of thought a bit so will stop - but Joshua made a good point that i may expand upon if i can drag my thoughts back together some time.

I do agree.
In this world of immediate posting and criticism
You need to be in one camp or the other.
Sometimes there is no place for alternative thought.
However for those who can't get to a hospital facility with a car and rely on public transport that facility must be on our doorstep.
We NEED a good and safe local hospital facility.
I hope that the effort that SSH hasn't gone unnoticed.

Jeremy Lefroy tells me that there's two meetings at the Showground.

"The Administrators have called public meetings to explain the process of administration.
Due to likely demand for places, the meetings in Stafford tonight at Walton High School and in Cannock tomorrow night have been cancelled and replaced with two meetings at Staffordshire Showground as follows:
Tuesday 30th April 7pm Staffordshire County Showground , Weston Road, ST18 0BD
Wednesday 1st May 7pm Staffordshire County Showground , Weston Road, ST18 0BD
There will be further public meetings during the actual consultation process on the proposals for Stafford and Cannock hospitals. This will begin towards the end of June."

Tonight's Stafford Hospital meeting cancelled and rescheduled for tomorrow at the County Showgrounds

Written by Robin Scott
A PUBLIC meeting on the future of Stafford Hospital set to be held tonight at Walton High School has been cancelled and rescheduled for tomorrow at the County Showground.

Administrators in charge at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust cited ‘overwhelming demand’ and concerns regarding access and safety as the reason for reorganising the meeting with only a few hours to go before it was set to begin.
A spokesman for the Trust Special Administrators said the decision had been made following a meeting with Staffordshire Police.
He said although the initial two meetings arranged in Stafford and Cannock would have held a combined 500 people, that would not have been enough to meet the needs of local people wanting to attend.
TSA alan Bloom said: “The demand for places was overwhelming and to ensure the safety of everyone wanting to attend and to increase the opportunity for people to participate, I took the decision to move the meetings to larger venues.
“ We apologise for the inconvenience and hope the new arrangements will benefit everyone.”
The meetings will instead be held at the Staffordshire County Showground - which can hold at least 700 people with ample parking - tomorrow at 7pm and at a future date and venue to be confirmed.

"overwhelming demand and concerns regarding access and safety" sounds like similar concerns 51000 marches have with regards to losing critical care and maternity services with the proposed downgrading of their local hospital!

Does anyone have figures on the number of patients that survived the horror that is Stafford A&E, but would have likely died before the Ambulance reached Stoke?

I believe figures exist for something relating to Stafford and Cannock out of hours emergency admissions - includes other hospitals - and it is a case of asking the write questions to the write people for this.
Although why we the public have to do all the chasing when our slithery privatising Tory MP sits on his fat arse is beyond me

Its not election time, so his fat arse is the only place in the constituency he'll be visiting.

EDIT: Assuming his arse is of course in the constituency, which I doubt it is.
