I have now achieved immortality.

This involved the excitement of a trip to the county town for a 9am appointment.

Back on the street at twenty past - it couldn't be done much faster, like being in a Lidl checkout queue.

Fifteen of the twenty minutes were me being held to see if I might flake out.

I also received a quick health and lifestyle assessment from the jabber, as the process was being gone through - "My mother would make you eat a sack of spuds!"

On the way there I saw a stoat, or weasel, as most people would call him here, there being no actual weasels and the native name being easóg. Also, I wonder if the hibernica sub-species might be a bit smaller than the ones on the Big Island? Not that I've seen many live stoats to compare the two.

Walking along by the canal today we saw a narrowboat going under the bridge while three unicyclists rode over it. Narrowboats a common sight, don't think we've seen unicyclists riding along the footpath before, or anywhere else in the village for that matter

After coming to bed early and sober ready for an early drive back....
Been lying here wide awake for 3 hours , so opened the window listening to the pouring rain....
Heard several cars pull up over the back and mens voices , looked out to see some dodgy goings on :hmm: . Think they may have seen me looking out, with the landing light on in the background :o , they've moved out of sight now...

Add that to the scary noises of the foxes and seagulls , ( and what I've just fathomed out is the snoring neighbour who also has their window open ) no chance of getting to sleep. Think I'd have been better off staying in the pub, having a skinful and knocking myself out to get a few hours kip!

It's a long night!

WOW !! ... the Sun's come out. I only say this because it rained on and off all last night, and steadily all morning. But doesn't it feel better when the old Sun comes out to cheer us up. Don't get me wrong, the farmers have been needing the rain, and so has my garden (such as it is.) The supreme being does all my gardening beyond mowing the lawns (lazy bastard) so if he/she wants to water the garden at the weekend .... who am I to argue ?

Good job I'm not paying him/her to do it, otherwise I'd be contacting my lawyer to get my money back because he/she is an utterly crap gardener.

Yeah, come on ya big tosser, hit me with lightning bolt ... see if I care. :P:P:P:P

After paying a fortune having my hair done especially the day before our holiday , I'd paid another £10 to have my fringe trimmed again in Poole 2 days after getting there . Hairdresser pointed out colour hadn't taken properly in places either. Don't usually complain, but glad I called into my salon when I got back now, as had it re-coloured and a better cut & finish today with other hairdressers in there instead. Very pleased with it now, but a pity it didn't look quite so good for all those holiday nights out!

Another 'Yay' moment today ....hubbys boss arrived mid-morning and carted him and office equipment off back to the office after 16 months working from home. I've spent the rest of the day sorting the house out. Now got the dining room and table back , plants back downstairs , and no longer hurdling the ethernet cable . Normality has resumed

There are videos on how to change the locks.

I've yet to get used to this online food shopping malarkey.... On today's shopping delivery I managed to order a indevidual quiche (serves 1) instead of a family sized one!

& why is the choice so much poorer than whats in store? Last weeks shop came from Wolverhampton, today's was from Stoke - both I would have thought were bigger than Stafford.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Festival of Speed this weekend, so we find ourselves having a mini break at the Goodwood Hotel for the next four nights. As jrs mate has been doing work experience alongside jr at my place of work this week, the school have kindly allowed them to join us on what should be schools days.

Though not entirely a work free weekend, I'm really looking forward to this.

Last week I went into the local Morrisons for a bottle of gin. Went down the booze counter and snatched up a Gordons. Can you imagine my surprise when I got home to find it was 0.0% alcohol !!! In every other way it looks like a bottle of Gordons so who reads the effing labels (and misses 0.0 written in big letters !!) I mean, what the f*** was it doing amongst all the real gins ???

I tried it. It's not that bad a drink with a bit of ice and lemon, but it's missing something. Like giving you the wobbles after an hour and making you want to go out and pick a fight with a velociraptor. :o In fact there were no velociraptors, and there's always one lurking about in the garden with the real stuff. :pint:

The fact that it's the same price as a real bottle of gin, just adds insult to injury!

I just pedalled to Bude and back on the old electric bicycle. Took the back roads which are very narrow and go up and down like Zebedee on a nuclear powered space bopper. 12.6 miles, average speed 8.5 mph with an ascent of 1328 feet. I decided to pop into Sainsburys for some odds and ends but of course I hadn't put the bike lock in the ruck sack, and these things are easily nickable.

The COVID guard standing outside the shop was very helpful and said put it over there behind me and I'll make sure it's OK. Now that's service !! :)
