Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

We ordered a few times from Bear Hut brownies during various lockdowns. I ended up having to hide them on social media as they were so incredible I wanted to order them all the time. I wish them well!

Lovely dog ( and love his collar as well).

Walking past , I've always wished I had enough money to buy Walton Garage to convert to a house , and make the workshop into a big indoor swimming pool .

Kitsch collars. His ID collar (not shown) is one which has Dr Who related symbols on it (tardis, daleks etc). They do some interesting designs.

I noticed some vehicles in the workshop/garage there and a WR Davies Nissan car outside, maybe they're using it temporarily?

Still think it would make a brilliant Tesco express :)

Haven't those little 'supermarkets' had their day.
The Sainsburys in Penkridge, which I only knew as the George and Fox, has closed.

That's a shame, that was quite useful if you were coming in to Stafford that way. They closed a little sainsbury's near my studio in Nottingham too, so I guess they do occassional culls of them.

That's more of a problem with Sainsbury's I think rather than the future of local supermarkets. Times don't appear to be hard in any of the 6453 local Coops in Stafford and surrounds.

No, no occasional culls, more redundancy, the last were announced in our store only about 3 weeks ago. Cafe to close in April and bakery (what's left of it) & remaining counters still under threat.

There's precious few people who shop in Sainsbury's anyway compared to Tesco and Asda, are they trying to drive the rest away and eventually close the store?

Not to mention the stupid parking arrangements (which I know aren't Sainsbury's fault).

Well Mrs Mudgie called in occasionally on our way home from a meal in the Swan at Whiston but she's managing well enough without it.
And I must admit to have managed well enough without the George and Fox, one of my least favourite Penkridge pubs and one I don't think i ever saw 'Noah' in.

I hold my hands up and say I love shopping in Sainsburys, compared to ASDA & Tescos. Apart from the convenience of being almost on my doorstep, I find the staff to be nicer, friendler., a lot more chatty. (This is not including a young bloke in ASDA who has been there since the store opened. )

Wasn't big enough for them. There are highly unlikely rumours that Wetherspoons want it, Aldi & ASDA aren't interested. The Co-op in Market Street Penkridge looks to be continuing now as Aldi turned it down as too small; reputedly making a loss but if they closed it and can't get a buyer it would make a bigger loss.

Ian? In Asda? He's an absolute star! I would poach him if I could.

A couple of minor things noted from a walk this morning.
Pizza Hut on the Hough is being gutted...
The old foot place opposite the Butlers Bell (ex Gamestation and Salvation Army shop) is having work done inside....

Any ideas what is going on with the old library at the back of Shire hall? I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned previously but I cant remember?

Sedon are in there at the moment doing some hefty work?

Been in the process of being transformed into a bar and restaurant downstairs, and apartments upstairs, but this has been going along at a painfully slow pace, gotta be 3 years now since work started, maybe one of the financers backed out, and they're just doing bits and pieces as they get funds. Edit, sorry, thought you were on about the library next to the grapes.

That old library is being turned into a multi use business hub.

I think you're talking about the wrong old library.
