I feel your pain. I wonder how long it will takes the eejits at the council to apply and enforce Low Traffic Neighbourhoods? The worst one in Stafford just got fixed!!! Railway Street is back to being a high speed rat run again!
to be fair....most drivers are ok....but there are a few who are not okI feel your pain. I wonder how long it will takes the eejits at the council to apply and enforce Low Traffic Neighbourhoods?
Which bit you on about? There's 2 parts to Railway St. Worst bits are the approach to the station. The worst one in Stafford just got fixed!!! Railway Street is back to being a high speed rat run again!
People I know who live in such a neighborhood say the disadvantages outweigh any advantages as time goes on.I feel your pain. I wonder how long it will takes the eejits at the council to apply and enforce Low Traffic Neighbourhoods?
Would you feel so happy if your road turned in to a rat run for motorists avoiding pot holes, or just looking to save a few secs on their journey?I have started driving through Weston to avoid them. It's a nice little detour that doesn't add anything to the journey time
There is no such thing as a ‘rat run’ - just roads which people are allowed to drive on.Would you feel so happy if your road turned in to a rat run for motorists avoiding pot holes, or just looking to save a few secs on their journey?
But isn't it thoughtful for traffic to stay on main roads so that residential areas can be safe for children to play out and people to enjoy more peaceful times? Residential roads shouldnt be diversion routes for traffic that should be on a main road just because they are there. That's why the council diverts traffic along roads of the same classification when setting up diversions. There is no such thing as a ‘rat run’ - just roads which people are allowed to drive on.
It would be thoughtful for residents not to park on pavements. Not only do they cause obstruction to road users, who are perfectly entitled to use public roads but way more importantly to pavement users (you know, adults, kids, the disabled etc etc) who need to use footpaths. But isn't it thoughtful for traffic to stay on main roads so that residential areas can be safe for children to play out and people to enjoy more peaceful times? I suspect those who think all roads are equal live in cul de sacs and don't have their lives blighted by speeding and noisy traffic night and day.
I don't live in a cul-de-sac and, at times, there are drivers racing up and down the road. It's not something I can do anything about unfortunately. If I complained to the Police, I am sure I would just get laughed at.But isn't it thoughtful for traffic to stay on main roads so that residential areas can be safe for children to play out and people to enjoy more peaceful times? yep, that's where we live and most of them got fixed last week.Which bit you on about? There's 2 parts to Railway St. Worst bits are the approach to the station.
Children playing out in the road... Surely they should be playing in gardens, parks etc.But isn't it thoughtful for traffic to stay on main roads so that residential areas can be safe for children to play out and people to enjoy more peaceful times? Why should housing estates be blighted by traffic. People's lives matter more than the entitled rights of car owners to drive whoever they want with no regard for the consequence to others. Car drivers do not have some god given right to do what they like and screw the negative consequences to others, apart from in Stafford obviously. If every road with houses on it didn't want people going through it then there wouldn't be many roads we could use. It's either this mentality or pure greed which means we now get new housing estates with one way in and out, so they add loads of traffic to the roads without providing a through route.
Those housing estates fill stafford with more cars and once built on restrict future roads, I think all new housing estates should have a through road tbh. Not every street obvs, but have one major route through and their roads come off that. You buy your plot, not the estate. Why should housing estates be blighted by traffic. Yes that's a good point. Design the estate with a through road and cul de sacs off them, like Parkside then? If I remember correctly no one actually lives on the ring road but in all the little streets off it.Those housing estates fill stafford with more cars and once built on restrict future roads, I think all new housing estates should have a through road tbh. The new beaconside estate for example, should have put something in from the A34 to as far along as possible on beaconside, so that if beaconside backs up there is an alternative.
Yeah, good example. If anything it also means an accident can't see you stranded as there's only one route in and out!Yes that's a good point.
