Bob,
A bicycle was my main means of transport through the 1970s and '80s and I remember what it was like getting rid of it after I suffered a stroke thirteen years ago, though I'm sure it meant less to me that your motorised versions have to you.
Its a big thing, weather its motorised or people powered... You are still the same person in your heart.

I am no longer a biker. I certainly don't ride anymore and now, for the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis I no longer own a motorcycle. A lad who restores bikes came around today and bought my beloved Suzuki GSXR1100L, two Yamaha Viragos and a Suzuki DR350cc trial bike as a job lot. I knew full well this had to come, and the garage really needed clearing out, but seeing that Suzuki GSXR1100 go (bought new in 1990) definitely bought a lump to my throat. It wasn't a bike .... it was a f****** starship !!
Well I'm a bit richer by four figures and I've got my garage back, but I'll miss the thrill. (Been missing since before the lockdown, ) .... but at least I've got my electric pedal bike !!! :facepalm:View attachment 12689

Just think of all the Nuclear Missiles you can store in the space left though Bob x

Applying for residency in Latvia. My FiLs health situation means he is going to need more care than originally planned and brexit screwed up my rights to spend time here without making it more official.
Meanwhile Liz Truss says that supporting the Remain campaign in the lead-up to Brexit was a "mistake".
That probably reminds us that voting Tory would always be a big mistake.
And today we've got massive queues at Dover and news that the UK's Brexit divorce bill could rise to £42½ billion.

Pitch black at 4am as I was about to set off to pick son & mates up for the airport. So put my outside house lights on as I stepped out the door , just as an ambulance was driving down the road looking for a house number. Saw me come out the door with house all lit up and assumed I'd gone out to let him know where to come . Thought I'd be sneaking out quietly

Change of plan for 40th anniversary celebrations. Saving the Sunday lunch in Paul Pry in town for another time.
Now in The Swan at Whittington village for an extra special meal , and it was bloody lovely.
Bit of a scary drive in a 'drive taxi' here though . Makes sons driving seem calm ! Driver nearly went into the back of 2 cars , whilst doing 70 in a 40 limit messing behind his seat with the Aircon controls.
But got here safely to get to celebrate our 40th.
Just a shame son can't join us , he's away in Budapest.

Supposed to be watching a film, but the carer beckoned me outside to see the weird sky.... Its blue, green & orange he says.....

Nope, its a little orange, but I now want a drink of whatever he's drinking... Mmm

I saw a sky like that a few times in the very late 60s/early 70s. 😁😉

Enjoying a drop of red.
Really enjoyable weekend at the French GP. Going on the bike was definately the right choice as we were able to filter through all but the last 15 minutes of the huge queues.

It was bloody hot though, and jr and I are still drinking litre bottles of water even now to combat the dehydration of the ride and the grandstand that turned out to have no shade whatsoever...
