My mum used to work in Victor Value and customers would give her their unwanted stamps. Used to love sticking them in the books and going to Hanley to choose what to spend them on.
I used to use Argos a lot for years when The Hough store was there . Stopped using it once that went as I HATED going into Stafford Sainsburys for the odd few things I could only get from there. On the subject of Argos, I hope it survives, as I use it a fair bit still. Although, I did noticed they've recently sacrificed their whole Irish business.
When they first opened the stores in the Republic, they sold a product which looked odd enough when offered in the UK, but truly bizarre in the outside world.I did noticed they've recently sacrificed their whole Irish business.
Useful for wiping their feet on the UK?but truly bizarre in the outside world.
On leaving the Acute Stroke Unit at New Cross I was told to take things easy for the rest of my life which is what I've been trying to do.How long would you have had to wait at one of the self-service tills?
I'm definitely not having a go at @littleme , but all the assistant does, sitting down, is pass the barcode of each item over a scanner, and then tells you the total price off a screen. Couldn't you do that, standing up?
Thank you @YorkshirePud .How long would you have had to wait at one of the self-service tills?

You pay in exactly the same way as you would at a till. There's always an assistant, probably 2, at self scan that will help you, or do it for you. If your really lucky you will get me, as when I'm not doing other random things, that's where I work.On leaving the Acute Stroke Unit at New Cross I was told to take things easy for the rest of my life which is what I've been trying to do.
"and then tells you the total price off a screen" - but what about paying ?
Can you pay with cash? You pay in exactly the same way as you would at a till. There's always an assistant, probably 2, at self scan that will help you, or do it for you. If your really lucky you will get me, as when I'm not doing other random things, that's where I work.
Cash or card on the left hand side of s/s looking towards exit doos, card only on the right hand side, gift cards & vouchers accepted on both sides. Always someone there to help. Can you pay with cash?
"Shouting at us over the lack of staff isn't helpful".Thank you @YorkshirePud .
For anyone interested, if you wander to the nearest self scan assistant or customer service desk, & ask politely, they will either scan your shopping for you, or find a member of shop floor staff that are till trained to serve you on a till.
For anyone else that's interested.... Supermarkets are allocated staff daily based on sales, by management...we have no choice over how many people are working on our checkout department, we have to try to cope with what's allocated, & call from other departments as required. Shouting at us over the lack of staff isn't helpful.....emailing/writing in/or asking to speak to management is the best thing to highlight any issues & complaints you have. We are all trying our best in a very difficult situation.
Nobody said you would."Shouting at us over the lack of staff isn't helpful".
I would never have considered that.
I mean never considered shouting at staff, not never considered that shouting at staff wouldn't be helpful.
So I can hand the basket to an assistant there and then hand over a £10 or £20 note ?You pay in exactly the same way as you would at a till. Yes. Just ask them to help you with your shopping & they will do it for you. We even give you back your carparking money. Don't forget your nectar card for nectar prices. So I can hand the basket to an assistant there and then hand over a £10 or £20 note ?
