"Shouting at us over the lack of staff isn't helpful".
I would never have considered that.
I mean never considered shouting at staff, not never considered that shouting at staff wouldn't be helpful.
But people do, and worse.

Nobody said you would.
The amount of people that do, and worse is unbelievable.

But so you all know.. just ask us, we will always find someone for a till if that's your preference.

& No, *not using self scans won't take away jobs, the staff cuts & redundancies will continue, whatever you do. It's business.

*I'm not explaining that very well, people think that using a manned till (not self scan) will keep people in jobs, not true. We have allocated staff for tills, if we have to call for shop floor staff to man tills then we are taking them away from there jobs & therefore shelves aren't stacked/filled, causing customers not to be able to buy the items they require...it's a vicious circle.

Enjoying a drop of red.

I don't doubt it for a moment. I was just attempting to explain to Mudgie that you weren't specifically accusing him of doing so, in the hope that further fuss could be avoided. :)

Yes. Just ask them to help you with your shopping & they will do it for you. We even give you back your carparking money. Don't forget your nectar card for nectar prices.
Thanks for your help with this.
There's no car parking money as I walk and can then stop off at a couple of pubs on my way home.
Yes, my wife's provided me with a nectar card.

Thank you.
Last Saturday the attendant on the till had a "Dawn" name badge. I remember that because I thought she should be on the early shift.
*Dawn b, at the bottom of your receipt is a address for 'lettuce know' ... If you fill it in with a comment about her great service then management will know...also fill it in with any complaints you have, it's a great help, if people don't complain, then nothing changes...

*I am not Dawn b.

Is there any truth in the rumour that the bakery in the Stafford Sainsburys is to close ?
If so that will presumably mean the discontinuation of properly fresh bread which has been my reason for going there.

The bakers in the Stafford store were made *redundant a few months ago (last September). Shell staff remain, but not baking as they did previously. If you've been getting your bread in the last few weeks, then you will continue to do so.

*This is now being rolled out across most stores, as per the last announcement by Simon Roberts

Thanks. So I've bought perfectly fresh loaves even though they've been baked elsewhere ?

The scratch bakers were made redundant, the remaining staff cook pre-made items in the morning (bread, rolls, hot cross buns) but nothing is made from scratch anymore, so no actual 'bakers'.

Will all the patisserie goods still be sold?

I noticed that the Deli/butcher/fishmonger counters had gone when I made a flying visit to Argos the other week.

So that's the butcher's and the baker's gone. The candlestick maker will be next!!!
