Stafford Traffic.

My experience has been that, against all expectations, traffic flows a hell of a lot better along that road during the works. Must be because there's only one set of lights there now rather than three, unsynchronized, of the buggers.
Er, not tonight - light-controlled contraflow currently in operation.

Avoid, if possible.

Deep grit'n'gunge on the A518 through Weston, from the river bridge.

A genuine 10mph or shag the underside of your car.

Anybody on two wheels would be better to avoid it altogether.

Also, hanging out washing in Weston today is probably a bad move - a veritable dust-storm.

It hasn't been too good recently, especially in the morning! Queues well past the Common. Looks like they are scrapping the Puffin crossing lights next to Currys and moving them further up the road next to the actual junction. Which will be better!! Cos no-one used that crossing properly, pressing the button and not bothering to wait. All the crossings around Browning Street now look to be split crossings rather than straight across - presumably to ease traffic flow and make pedestrians wait longer. Hope the sensors actually detect whether the person has already crossed the road and cancel the red signal. Cos those sensors never work properly at crossings either.

There is potential for some intermittent single-lane working on the A51, just north of Sandon. There were lights in operation a couple of hours ago, though they were then removed, but have been left handy for a resumption.

It seems that somebody may have severed a BT cable, causing some considerable disconnections in the area.

There is talk of it going on for around three weeks....

From Stoke Sentinel online.
Two Police Officers are in hospital having been injured in the accident. Both reported to be in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene.

Heard that the police car was en route to intercept a stolen vehicle, started to aquaplane and crossed the central reservation ending up in the Penk.
