Stafford Traffic.

Sometimes, slower traffic can form a constant stream, where faster traffic may pass in fits and starts - pedestrians who try to cross Corporation Street, and who can remember the old days before the traffic 'calming' measures were introduced, will understand the phenomenon.

Mallard Walk sounds like a colloquial description of a mildly distressing symptom.

The planners in Stafford, or whoever names streets, have so little imagingation that streets at both ends of town are called Mallard something, 1 at Silkmore, the new houses at the end of Silkmore Crescent and now these at Doxey. Is it because we expect them to flood? If so I think we need to call the new decimation of the marshes Mallard Rugby Club and hope karma prevails on them !!

The site is higher than the mainline railway

They could be linked by Mallard Boulevard.

Something going on on m6 north bound between 12-13 when we came up it around 9.30pm tonight. Was crawling behind the cops in a rolling road block all the way from Hilton park to J12 where they stopped completely.

Managed to get off at 12 and come through Penkridge way. M6 northbound was still empty when we passed J13

This looks interesting although I doubt it will be introduced in Stafford.

"The Government has been forced to come up with tougher measures to target diesel drivers after losing a case against environmental campaigners ClientEarth over breaches of EU emissions standards.

The new strategy had led to concerns that diesel drivers would be targeted with charges of up to £25 a day to enter "clean air zones" in seven towns and cities. They include Leeds, Nottingham, Southampton and Derby.

While councils will have the power to impose pollution taxes, ministers have warned them that they must examine all other alternatives first.

A party source said: "We are clear that measures other than charging zones should be preferred if they are as effective at reducing pollution.

Instead of pollution taxes councils will be urged to improve the flow of traffic with measures such as removing speed humps to prevent cars repeatedly slowing down and speeding up, which almost doubles the amount of harmful gasses they pump out.

Other options which are expected to be put forward include better sequencing of traffic lights to ensure that drivers will keep arriving at green lights rather than red ones if they drive within the speed limit."

Its a pity they are not looking at removing traffic lights altogether or only using them during rush hour periods but better than leaving things as is.

Just been to the cop shop cos a woman scraped my van and drove off
without giving her details, I got her number though, a black car but
the cops say it's supposed to be grey, interesting!
