I once worked with someone who had 15 driving penalty points or more (i believe most were due t o speeding). Didn't lose his license as it was needed for work. I doubt retests will ever come into force as I suspect many of us would fail and would be unable to attend work
So being able to attend work has a higher priority than the safety of the general public.
There are thousands of people out there with over 12 points.

Being allowed to continue driving legally with more than 50 points is not unknown.

I’ve never understood why needing a licence for work is a mitigating reason. Surely if you need a licence to earn a living you should be MORE careful.
It's not uncommon for other jurisdictions to have lower alcohol limits for the "professional driver".

The town seems to traffic cone central today, they're everywhere.

One lane of Queensway is coned off from Asda roundabout to Goal Square including access into Kingsmead and coming out of North Walls. Very confusing.

It looks like they're possibly filling potholes but some of the coned off areas don't look like they have any potholes.

It was trolly central when I went to work, Iceland and Wilko trolleys all in the Rd, a very interesting drive.

I'm guessing the lane closure on Queensway is for repairs. I hit a pothole along there the other day and nearly lost a wheel.

I have heard that Marston Road, at least the section between Wogan Street and Fancy Walk, is to be closed to traffic from Wednesday, March 24th, for up to seven days.

On a late night walk tonight coming back through the Crossings Estate I noticed a car had been clamped due to no tax (and no MOT it would appear after throwing the car reg in google).

A curious point however, given the car was parked on a road that is currently un-adopted by the council (Abberley Grove), is the DVLA within their rights to clamp the car ?? (I don't have any connection to the owner of the vehicle I'm just interested in the situation that exists !!).

A car parked on the car park for Foregate Court has also been clamped too. It hasn't had an MOT/Tax for at least 22 months (not insured either).

There was what looked like a big smash on Sundown Drive yesterday afternoon, between the top of the bank and the entrance to where the Spar is. I went out for a walk and spied an ambulance and a police car or two. They also had the entrance to the shops cordoned off. Didn't get too close but the car in the road looked in pretty bad shape with all windows smashed and battered in places but then again it was an old three-wheeler so I don't know how good nick it was in beforehand. XD

An hour later the cars were gone but there was a crane looking at the top of one of the lampposts so I assume the car crashed into it.
